Due to rain, we stayed another day in Bergen. Used the time to go into the city to get supplies and be ready to hit the road. The weather cleared in the afternoon so we hiked up the mountain behind the Hostel. Turned out not to be the smartest thing to do, but it was a great hike. Amazing, the number of people running up the mountain, even on the steepest trail where we were.
Woke to a relatively clear morning! A great day to ride! We struggled to find our way, but people really helped pointing the way. We did a paltry 20 miles to a campground and beat the rain. Luckily we took a basic cabin, because shortly thereafter my bad knee swelled up and refused to bend! A rough night but in the morning I went to the reception office and they gave me a couple of bags of ice. So the ice is on and I'm sitting here watching the rain! At least i'm getting the recipe dialed for our cowboy coffee : ) .
Retirement was so fun, I decided to do it again! After 8 years in Maine and 8 summers working as a bicycle mechanic, it's time for a change. My friend Anna retired and we decided to do a Nordic Tour. Our plan is to bicycle up the coast of Norway to Kirkenes and then south into Finland. We'll bike down to the head of the bay of Bothnia and then into Sweden. How long? We want to be home for the holidays!... full info
