Hallo Dames en Heren, We are on the train from Amsterdam to Paris having had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. Our AirBnB hosts, Dicky and John, were incredibly attentive and thoughtful. They made us breakfast each morning and were keen to chat whenever possible. Their home is magnificent and we would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for quality accommodation in a central location.
Yesterday we did the mandatory canal boat trip which was really good as it showed us parts of the city we hadn't encountered earlier. Afterwards, we seemed to find every market place in Amsterdam - the flower markets, bric-a-brac, you name it, we found it!! (The luggage is putting on weight already!!)
In the evening we went to the ballet at the National Opera & Ballet Centre with Jenny's friend, Claudia. She got us great seats for very reasonable prices at a sold-out performance of "Ode aan de Meester" (Ode to a Master). It was a modern ballet with four Acts, honouring the greatest Dutch choreographer, Hans van Manen, He was actually there last night, sitting a few rows behind us. He is 85 years old, very spritely and is greatly revered by the Dutch
Mike was bored outside the Delft China shop
Thought this photo was interesting with leaning third floor. Leaning buildings are very common in Amsterdam and is known around the world for his choreography. Each Act was quite different and each stunning and mesmerizing. A thoroughly enjoyable conclusion to our stay in this wonderful city.
And now its off to Paris to catch up with friends.
Happy Eighth birthday Josh!!
