Wow,
2010 is over and 2011 begun with a really big bang! The nice, quiet evening that I had in mind didn't end up happening at all. My roommate Simon* ended up in the hospital and I had to wait for 3 hours for any information from the doctors. It was in the middle of the night so the doctors pretty much ignored us most of the time. The hart- and respiratory machine kept bleeping and showing disturbing graphs. The doctors said it was nothing and just gave him some liquid through a tube..
After three cups of coffee and a lot of waiting, we were out of there. They hadn't found anything and thought he should go see a general practitioner when he feels better. Probably too much alcohol, and he needed to go to bed. So there we were, standing outside of the emergency entrance of the hospital, waiting for the taxi. Simon looked like he really had drunk too much. I had three beers and three coffee. Just enough to get me through New Years eve and off to my bed.
The remains of that evening in my room are dreadfully obvious (my room is trashed
by a bunch of stupid party guests) and I felt like it was time for a big clean up. Fresh for the new year and for the new resident of my room. Which I haven't talked to yet, but I've been informed that it's a Polish guy. Hope my roommates will endure.
Now I finally have time to sit down, listen to some chill music and relax, I think it is time to start with my travelblog. Never thought I would ever make something that sounds as ridiculous as 'blog'. Blogs are not for me, I always thought. But now that everybody has asked to keep them updated with all my crazy adventures, it might be a good time to get over the blog part and make use of technology. I don't feel like a modern computer wizzkid, so I didn't think I would like sitting behind that screen all the time. Now that I've bought a laptop, my whole vision of all our available technology has changed. It is amazing what you can do with these things! On the couch, speakers on, endless memory, all the movies you want, download whatever you want.. Our generation is so awesome!
So now I will try to figure out how to get a picture up here. Hopefully you will now see some pictures of winter in Tilburg.
Crazy enough, when I think about it, 2010 in Tilburg wasn't so bad, not bad at all actually..
I've met so many good people here. Since Christmas I keep saying that I feel so blessed, because it really does feel that way. I feel so ready to go and get out of here. A new start, new visions on life and new people and places to see. I wish I could see all the places in the world. Traveling always makes me so happy. Even the thought about it gives me a good feeling inside..
Enough with all the drama and feelings, it's time to finish packing and learn my last exam before I go. Thursday the 6th I am going to Brussels with Derya for a last evening of delicious Belgian beer and last goodbyes. My airplane leaves the 7th from Zaventem at 10:15 am. (Have to get used to using am and pm, now it's still kind of confusing..)
I will try not to think about crashing once I'm up
there, flying miles high in a metal construction. Can't guarantee that it won't pop up for a second at some point.
To everybody that I will not see anymore before I leave, BIG hug and I'll be back soon!
Xx Emilia
- I'm leaving, on a jetplane.. *I will not mention his real name, maybe he won't like that..
