The man at the ticket counter at Kasteel Heeswijk recognized us from last week when we had arrived just before closing time. I was impressed. We decided to take the full audio tour, available on tablet (computer ones, not the ones Moses used). Pretty good system. This castle too has been through the wars and proven to be both an effective protector of its owners and citizens of Heeswijk, as well as a place where many royals stayed, from Spain, France, England and the Netherlands. It’s gone through some ups and downs, having been left in disrepair, partially burnt and continuously having been under dispute as to ownership. Visiting family in the morning is a sure recipe for excellent coffee and rich desserts. A visit with Johan and Carlos in Den Bosch was no different. I had not seen my cousin Johan since he visited us when he was a 12-year old boy, he’s 51 now. We had seen a lot from him and Carlos in Facebook, since they are avid travelers, and it was sure nice to meet up. Marion could not get over their neighbourhood, being near a small canal that runs along people’s backyards filled with a variety of flowers, and kept spotlessly maintained of course.
