Edit Blog Post
Hey everyone,
I haven't put a blog up since Saturday! I hope you're all doing well. Let's see, what have I been up to... Sunday I made pancakes for everyone, and we did stuff around the house. It was the last day of vacation before classes started again, so we cleaned and watched a couple movies. Monday I had a good wander around town; first I knew where I was going, then I was lost, then I thought I knew where I was going, ended up in in a different part of town than I was trying to get to, thought I knew where I was going again, but was lost again, and then I found my way back to the city centre, and I know how to get home from there. Basically I walked around for about 4 hours. It was a lot of fun! I found so many neat shops and interesting buildings.
I went into an awesome second hand/antique shop. Stuff was piled up so high everywhere that you were afraid to pick anything up, because it looked like the rest of the stack would fall over! I bought myself a hat, its sort
of a cross between a Sherlock Holmes hat and a fedora, in green-beige tartan. It's very cute 😊 I also found some old Maastrict postcards. I like them better than the new ones in the tourist shop on the bridge near the big biking-lot. In one of the postcards, you can see a bunch of old cars too. Unfortunately the postcards don't have dates on them, but when I get home I'm going to get someone to take a look at the cars in that one because we should be able to tell the approximate date from that.
I saw so many neat shops, Maastricht is such a wonderful city to wander around in. And honestly, I cannot get lost. I was honestly trying to on Monday, but all I have to do is find my way to the river in the middle of the city or one of the squares, all of which are easy to find, and I can find my way home. Easy peasy. I can't remember what else happened on Monday, I think that's the day we made a big dinner and spent time in the house, but I'm not sure. All I know
for sure is that I didn't get near enough to the computer to send a blog out, and I didn't really have anything that exciting to say at the moment, anyways.
On Tuesday Joel came home, and we tricked him pretty good. We told him (earlier that week) that I got a last-minute good deal on a flight to England, where I would be staying with Alice's sister for 5 days. I was leaving Monday and wasn't going to be back til Friday. At least, that's what we told Joel so he wouldn't think I'd be home when he got here. So what I did was I hid outside the house, and when Joel got here everyone positioned Joel in the living room. They had him sitting on the couch facing the living room window, talking to someone on the couch directly in front of the window. Then I walked back and forth past the window wearing different hats. Now, Joel was a little tired and jet-lagged, so he didn't notice straight off. Apparently what he said was "gee, that person sure looks like Bev. I wonder why they keep walking past the window wearing different hats" Darn
Statue
This is my favorite statue so far. jet-lagged people. The people in the house were doing such a good job of directing Joel's gaze to the window though, jumping around, pretending to sneeze, commenting on the girl walking outside the window, Toby even came outside and acted goofy outside the window so I could pause outside the window, pretending just to look at the crazy guy, and STILL Joel didn't clue in. Anyways, after almost HALF and HOUR of walking past, and starting to try to make direct eye contact with him every time I walked past, he finally realised that the person trying to stare him down while walking past the window for the umpteenth time did look a LOT like Bev, and he came to the door and poked his head outside. Now, he says that if he'd seen me just walking casually down the street he would have brushed it off. However, I had hidden on a doorstep down the street in hopes of confusing him further. The mysterious disappearing pedestrian seemed very suspicious (duh) and he finally walked down the street and I jumped out at him. All that for a prank. It was worth it though. Scared the wits out of him
and confused the heck out of him. Ahhh just like old times.
The other thing that happened yesterday was I started feeling like I was coming down with a throat infection again. I've had them about twice a year for a few years now, and it generally only happens when I don't get enough sleep. Hehe lucky me, all last week my sleeping was messed up. I'm finally starting to feel un-jet-lagged, the last 2 nights have been normal, but still I got sick. Last night I felt pretty rotten, just general achy and my throat started hurting, but everyone in this house turns into a mom when someone gets sick, and I've had lots of tea and backrubs and just general attention. So no worries, I will be taken good care of while here. It sucks that I had to get sick though. Hopefully it will be gone soon, I just need lots of rest. I probably won't be up to much in the next little while so unless I'm bored out of my skin I will probably not have much to blog about for a couple days.
Anyways, I think I'm going to go
fall asleep in front of the TV for a while, so I will wrap this up and I hope to have something more upbeat to tell you all about soon! Enjoy the pictures, just random city stuff.
feeling yucky,
~Bev

"missing bev"
Hey You have no idea the perks as well as the downfalls of you being gone. One of the downfalls is that you are not here to come hang out with and such. Also, it was nice to have someone who came over for random visits.Ah, the days when you would wake me up. Now to the perks of you being gone...no longer will i have someone wake me up because they want to go for a walk to a store and they dont want to go alone... the days of tiredness and sleep deprivation are over...until you come back. By that time i will not be able to wait until you wake me up in the morning once more. Also when you get back we are going to have to go for some bubble teas. Anyways, i hope all is going well for you and i will talk to you later
