Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been the most leisure day of our Maltese experience. Our plans for the day was to visit the Tarxien Temple followed by a walk down into the Dhar Ghalam Prehistoric Cave. We set out quite late in the day, knowing that today's commitments wouldn't take much time, being both close to where we live and to each other. We figured that after our visits there we'd go back into Valletta and see what we have missed, we still had a ticket to the National Museum of Fine Arts that would be a shame to waste! Said and done, we took a bus into Valletta and then switched out to the Tarxien Temple. The temple area is quite nice, not in the class of Hagar Qim, but still very nice and ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Yesterday Marcus and I decided that today we'll to go to the temples of Hagar Qim and Mnajdra, hoping for some better prehistoric preservation than what we saw yesterday. I can tell you all that we were not disappointed! Since we needed to go through Rabat we had also decided to go and visit Saint Agatha's Historical Complex. This was a fairly short stop which included a visit to the museum and then a short guided tour of the crypt, church and catacombs beneath it. This actually turned out to be one of my favourite spots of the whole trip so far, the frescoes in the crypt are quite well preserved, they are very vivid and the catacombs still contain the remains of those buried within them, not to mention that the ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! So, me and Marcus decided yesterday to go to the two temples at Mgarr, the Skorba and the Ta' Hagrat. As we sat on the bus going there, all of a sudden this huge, gorgeous church came before us and I immediately pulled up my map to see if I could figure out where we were. Turns out we passed through Mosta and that it was the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady. I told Marcus straight away that we'd stop there on the way back and Marcus agreed. When we came to Mgarr we first went to the Mgarr Parish Church to learn about where we could find the temples and a lovely lady told us how to get to the first one. She also told us that there is ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! What a long day this have been, we left the hotel at 9am today and returned at 9pm, a lot of this time has gone into transportation today. We started by taking a bus to the ferry station which took about 50 minutes, then we waited for the ferry for another half hour. Then the trip over to Gozo took around 30 minutes and then it took us another 40 minutes by bus to get to Xaghra, our first stop of the day. Here we visited the Ggantija Temples, two neolithic temples located right next to each other. These temples are the second oldest man-made structure in the world. They are over 5500 years old, pre-dating even the Pyramids. These temples are fairly well preserved, especially considering their age and you should ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Today has been most interesting and entertaining! Rabat and old Mdina have quite some nice things to offer a historical buff such as myself. The bus to Rabat took us about 40 minutes but you get to see a lot of Malta on the way so it's not a dull ride. As you roll into Rabat you do so right by the historical city of Mdina, it's surrounded by high walls with the red dome of the Saint Paul's Cathedral crowning above them. We started in the Roman Villa which is a newly built house in Roman style that stands on top of, and works as a museum of, an old Roman Villa with quite some exquisite mosaics preserved, other than that there isn't that much to see there though so we ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Okay, I have to admit that our itinerary didn't end up exactly like the one we had yesterday. We started this day with a steady continental breakfast at the hotel before we hopped on a bus to Valletta, this time however we got off at the Bombes Gate instead, it's a pretty nice ornamental gate in the old Florian defensive line and it's worth a closer look. From there we went and took a look at the small Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and the Spencer Monument that both stand a little further down by the road. Our path next took us by the Lion Fountain and the statue of Florian to the stunning Saint Publius's Church, which was unfortunately closed so we'll come back another day. Oh, if you're ... read more

Hello my fellow travellers! Me and my trusted brother-in-arms Marcus have arrived on a very hot Malta where we began our journey by getting off at the wrong bus-stop which meant a bit of walking around before we finally came to our hotel, Kappara in San Gwann, a small but bustling city with about 13.000 citizens. It wasn't all bad though, our walkabout led us various through parts of the city and we saw the Mother of God Hospital and the University of Malta. Both of which are actually located in Msida, another small town with a few thousand citizens. They are so close to each other that I'm not sure where one ends and the other begins! At the airport we bought a 7 day bus card, it's only 6.5 EUR which is a good ... read more

Our 6th day was an "at sea" day...good for sleeping in, lounging around, meeting people, visiting the casino, watching the shows. Our 7th day would be Malta. We had very limited knowledge of Malta before arriving. We knew that it is a very small island country situated west of Tunisia (Africa), north of Libya, and south of Sicily. I knew that it had been an important naval station during the world wars, and that it contained several world heritage sites. Upon arriving, we noticed just how fortified the city was. There were steep, tall, deep walls all around the harbor. The city looked very well taken care of also. This was one of the few stops we hadn't planned an organized excursion, so we walked around the port for a while, and bought tickets to one ... read more

I went to Malta with my mom because there's a place you can swimming with the dolphins. That's always been our dream, since I was little I fell in love with those so intelligent and gentle animals. My mom always gave me presents of dolphins, stuffed, key rings, earings....then when I was 18 I got my first tattoo of a dolphin of course! So when I had the oportunity I took her to the trip of her dreams. See how happy she was, was the best thing ever happened to me.
