LOOKING DOWN AT THE LOWER/VALLEY PART OF THE CITY Now we are writing in real time...
I arrived in Luxembourg City yesterday, Monday, September 7th. Itook the TGV from Gare L'Est of Paris (Thanks to Rodolphe)... am staying at he Mercure hotel in Luxembourg City which is right in frontothe Gare Centrale...The center of the city is about 15 minutes walk...I have t say when I firs entered the city I was not too impressed, but when you walk a little bit more into it...it grows on you...Today i did alot of the touristy thing..the hisory of it is a bit confusing and invloved...everyone has invaded at one point or another...It s currenty an independent an sovereing Duchese...It is the center of fianance and banking in Europe...I think its tax laws make it an attractive place for banks...40% of its population are Luxembourgeois...The remainder are foreigners or commuters from France and Germany...They all speak German, French, Luxembourg, and English...The older part of town is quite impressive with its forts and rock structures...The plazas are filled with cafes and bars...During lunch and happy hour they are filled with tourist and bankers...
I will be drivng thru the European Union part later on today...
The library is closing now...so I will write
