Today we started the serious driving to take us home and travelled 450k mainly on motorways. Firstly northwards along attractive mountainous roads with the trees starting to show their autumn colours, then west along the boring plains of northern Italy, round Milan and finally north again back in the mountains to one of the Italian lakes, Lago Maggiore. We stayed in an excellent lakeside campsite in the village of Solcio on the western shore.
