Perched 750m (2,5000ft) above the coast on a windswept isolated mountain, a small medieval, fortified town, with staggering views. On a clear day, you can spot the Egadi Islands and locals say even Cape Bon in Tunisia!

Founded by the mysterious Elymians, who settled nearby Sagesta, who built a temple dedicated to the fertility goddess known as Astarte. The mountain was fought over by Romans and Carthaginians, the Arabs called it Mohammed's Mountain and Count Roger apparently had visions of St. Julian while attacking the town.
