April 23-24

We arrived in Verona at around 8am and tried to find internet to contact a man by the name of Christian, with whom we had booked our hostel. After wandering the streets for a while I finally found some internet signal that I could mooch off of to contact him. He instructed us on how to navigate the bus lines to make it to the outskirts of Verona so that he could meet us and pick us up and take us to his bed and breakfast. After finding a local that could speak english and help us make our way through the language barrier, we contacted Christian once we were closer to his home. He came and picked us up in his tiny compact car and drove us to the top of a mountain that overlooked the outskirts of Verona. We made our way through many vineyards that covered the mountainside. I'm so glad that we somehow found a booking with this B & B.. it was by far the best blind booking (no pictures online at all)... that I've ever made.

After we arrived and unpacked... Christian notified us that no one would be staying

One-Man-Band!
that night.. so he upgraded us a room for free and gave us a private bathroom! (yay!).. ... after hearing this wonderful news and throwing our stuff all over the room.. we were ready to conquer Verona. Christian offered to drive us back down the mountain to catch the #51 bus that would arrive on the 13th and 43rd minutes on the hour.. promptly.. I'm not quite sure how it was so exact..but it was... I'll just write it up as being part of "Thai Magic" (this is a little concept/phrase that my friends and I came up with back when we were in Thailand to explain why so many things there were unbelievably cool... anytime we find a place that has something out of the ordinary and we can't explain.. we call it Thai Magic.. silly....sad.... but true). As Megan and I had learned earlier.. we didn't really need a bus ticket.. they were 1 Euro tickets and no one checked them.. so we kinda bummed a ride back into Verona.. I mean we weren't the only ones that did it.. i promise 90 percent of the people that were riding on this bus didn't have a ticket to

Grabbing Juliet's right breast!
validate in the little machine either.. oh well...

Once we made our way back into Verona.. we wandered about until we found Juliet's house and viewed her balcony..where all the inspiration was created for well you know the story! Either way..there is a bronze (?) statue of Juliet outside of her house..that supposedly if you touch will bring you love in the near future... ...... so I grabbed her right breast and took a picture..not really sure what kind of luck love that will bring me..but we'll find out!

Shortly thereafter, we found ourselves at the Anfiteatro Arena - Roman Amphitheatre which was built in the 1st century.... to say the least.. it was massive, old.. and very impressive. Later we found a historic Castle of sorts. Later that day we would find a supermarket to buy some food to cook back at the B & B.... we actually found a bottle of wine from '06 on special for only 1 Euro.. which is about 1.60 USD!.. jeeeeez.. and it was the best wine I've had in the last 4 months.. which means I've been drinking some shitty wine.. and it also means that this Italian wine was quite good.... either way..it was amazing.... We would head back.. fix some dinner and turn in early... for we would have another day of travel to come... to Venice

Verona...ah..
I absolutely loved Verona...the pink marble streets. I loved seeing the pictures. Dad and I are so proud of you and happy for this experience. See you soon. MOM (P.S. Your car is still in the garage and Dad only drives it down the block so it will still work. Looks like new. It is missing you. Ha!) (new tires and full of gas)
