Water taxi from airport to hotel
We arrived in Venice on 26 April for 5 days and the weather gods favored us with their best spring weather. Marco Polo airport is small and easy, everyone speaks English. We found kiosk 78 for our water taxi voucher (prepaid on venicelink.com) and walked the 5 minute covered walkway to the pier. Could not be easier unless you have mobility issues. Our driver was looking for us and we loaded easily into the boat and were on our way. Our taxi driver took us to our hotel via the grand canal, without paying extra for the service. We entered via a canal near Ca d'Oro. It was the perfect welcome to this fabled city. It is true that everything that can be said about Venice has been said or written. Still, it is worth experiencing. This old city dedicated to commerce exists in sort of a dream land. It really reminded me of Disney World for all of its preserved history. But, it is not make believe, it is real. That is the difference. Our inn, Pensione Accademia (Villa Maravage) was a part of the whole experience. This is an old villa remade for modern purposes and it shows. The

original villa is intact (and beautiful) but with a few modern touches (but no lift, be warned). The neighborhood is divine and you should nnot consider staying in any other part of Venice.
