Day 38 : Sunday 13 October 2019 : Venice, Italy

Opti Shuttle 9.15am to Venice was the quickest, easiest and best value. Picked up on the corner near our accommodation. Long trip on a mini bus, but very comfortable, good speed with a pit stop at a Roadhouse. You get dropped on the outskirts of Venice and have to walk in because there are no cars in Venice arrive12.15pm.

No point wheeling your luggage here, on the back it goes. Up and down stairs, through alleys. We got to the Piazza but couldn’t find the Airbnb after that, fortunately, the guy was waiting for us and we looked lost enough he figured it was us. Awesome little unit, modern and has everything, we love this one, has lots of extras. And there’s a little storeroom/shed underneath which we can put our luggage in as we don’t fly out until 6pm. He was very clear, we CAN’T put our luggage on the ground, he cleared space on some chairs. Weird. He didn’t speak much English, so we didn’t ask more.

Wow, people everywhere, but it’s not what I expected. It well exceeded my expectations. It’s really very cool. We

Our lane, with the canal at the end
try to make our way to San Marco Square and thankfully there are signs. Took a ride to the top of the Campanile (€28) but it was very misty, so the view from the Campanile (bell tower) was not the best.

We head left and follow the water line. There’s a big navy ship docked but the queue to get on is huge and not moving. We wandered so far that we ended up in a dead end and we had to back track. Lovely area, not as many people. As we head back we wander through a number of gardens with the cutest art pieces, they’re from all over the world.

Passed a very curious Captain Candy shop…..so cool and other interesting shops. (€17) Bought some Murano glass trinkets.

Bought ferry tix so we could go to Burano tomorrow. (€70). Dinner at La Rivetta Sas (€78). Nice little place offering a 2 course meal.

AIRBNB Ca'De Mezo @ $205AUD per night. 1 bedroom, kitchen, living and just so comfortable. Has all the extras

Walked 12kms or 18700 steps and 7 floors. CC €220 Cash €70
