Got up fairly early along with Pegah and Laura to make our day trip out to Siena, supposedly a smaller but equally as appealing city as Florence. We had planned to hop off the train on the way there in some tiny town to grab a traditional lunch. We decided to just pick a random number (2) and then get off the train after two more stops. Stop number 2 at that point ended up being Siena. FAIL. Probably worked out for the best though as Pegah had to head out fairly early to catch her train down to Sorrento. Wandered through the medieval streets for a little and ended up in the main square which I heard many considered the most beautiful in the world. Don't think I would go that far but it is pretty spectacular. It almost doesn't look real, like it's prop cutouts or something. This place needs to be in a movie if it isn't already.

Grabbed some pizzas at this place nearby and got to watch the chef hand toss the pizzas. He was a pretty amiable guy who always seemed in a good mood. I could see why. The window he looks out

of when he cooks has this amazing view of Siena and the countryside. Better than most postcards you can find. Enjoyed our pizza in the main square and just sat and relaxed, marveling at the place. Pegah had to head out but Laura and I wandered around the twisting hilly streetes for a while before tiring out and deciding to head back to Florence. Siena definitely was worth the trip. I think we all liked it more than Florence actually. Just always something to look at around every turn even though it may not be in a guide book or on everyones must see or do list.

The evening ended up being pretty similar to the one last night except we added a couple of Brazilian guys and this insane American woman ha. She needs her own TV show or something. She is about as New York or Jersey as they come. Definitely personified some of the characteristics that foreigners hate in Americans but at the same time she is a really sweet intelligent person so it doesn't come off too negatively. Still, it was a pretty memorable night listening to her. She just doesn't take any crap which

is why it makes sense as she is a school teacher in Flint, Michigan haha. Doesn't call anyone what their name actually is just what she thinks it should be. Kept calling our Brazilian friend Miguel since it sounded more Brazilian than his real name ha. Crazy doesn't even start to describe her. She also desribed Naples as NYC on speed and crack so I think I will have to stop there for a day before heading on to Croatia. Good night.
