You have been asking lots of questions about my university life……
WHY Because it seems very interesting, a great opportunity that doesn’t jump on people every day..
WHERE In Florence. U can see it here:
My school Please feel free to be impressed…. You are also aloud to get gallous….
WHEN We have classes every weekend: Friday afternoon and Saturday all day until the end of June.
Then we are going on a 3 months stage please don’t start asking about that - I have no idea… then, in October or s we are supposed to be here for final exams, writing out thesis and hopefully graduating.
WHO We are a very interesting group of people from all over the world: 8 Italians, 2.5 Israelis, 2.5 Africans, 5 Latino Americans, 2 Palestinians, one woman from Macedonia.
The group has some amazing people in it, amazing personal stories, different areas of interests, occupation and education… the ages are between 24 and 55.
I know that some of us will go back to their countries and will make a Hugh difference. I can’t wait to hear about them in 10 years time.
WHAT Now, what do I study…. That’s a little more difficult to explain but let me try:
In Italian it’s called ‘sviluppo umano”. In English something like human’s development.
It’s a program that involves all areas of interest in the development of humanity: it involves anthropology, sociology, history, economics, Justice, Politics, education, etc.
It looks like a very interesting program, for basically everyone that is interested in the humans development. But, it’s not only human's development, its also peace related. Its about international aid to the developing countries, it’s about social rights, governments and territories……
I hope I will know better about my master’s program in about a year…
Now, of course, we still need to struggle with the Italian's administration here too, the stress I had in Israel was a good training to what I am going to have to do here. Simple things like:
Master’s secretary: "go to via XXX room no. 25 for your Italian’s level evaluation..."
Common sensed Merav: “which no. on via XXX ?”
Master’s secretary; “I don’t know but its room no. 25”
Common sensed Merav: “good Idea, the VIA has only about 70 houses so I will go and knock
Roger at the campsite
you can see how busy the campsite was on doors looking for room no. 25”
It didn’t seem unreasonable to the secretary…
And that’s only a small tiny sample from few days ago.
In the first 2 weeks I had lived with Roger in a campsite (It was raining for only 10 days). Waiting for my room at the Students house or to get a great discount and stay in the campsite with Roger. The price that the camp sites had asked for is only double the price the student’s house is asking so here I am. In my little shoe box, and roger is in the parking (for now) just outside my window. My window has great view; It's facing east (sunrises),Roger and the medicines faculty… So, I am mainly studying the future doctors…

You are living in a movie :-)
Only now i got to read your preious post and the current one... this is good stuff, almost a transcript, to think that few weeks ago you were on a vacation in Israel, then on a thrilling rase against time and bureaucracy, and now it's a totaly different tempo... sitting there in Florence studying, looking out the window at medicine students (...??) and in the middle Roger winks at you asking when is the next journey... :) Enjoy !
