Tonight we went to mass at the Dumo. It was probably one of the most amazing experiences I’m going to have in Italy. When we arrived in the church we sat in the back and were taking it all in when the priest told those sitting in the back to move forward. As we moved up close to the alter the priest approached a family in front of us and said something to them in Italian. Then the priest approached us, and had obviously heard us speaking English, and welcomed us. He told us how much he loved the U.S. and then asked Jordan if she spoke Italian when she said a little he rambled something long and complicated that I couldn’t understand. Nicole got the general gist of it. It was some specific instructions. We decide to follow the family he was speaking to before us and do what they did. Before communion we followed the other family around the corner. We were ushered into a back room. We were all very confused, but when we saw the baskets we figured it out. We were in charge of collecting the offering. It was such an honor to be chosen to participate in their mass I felt really really special. The priest blessed us and told us he’d pray for us as well. Mass was really beautiful, and the priest was great it was such a wonderful experience. I want to remember it forever. I was so honored
