One of the big blasts
Second volcano in our Sicily trip. We originally planned to climb it, but at that time the volcano was very active and hiking path was closed. So we took a boat tour from the main island of Lipari to Stromboli. The boat was suppose to drop us on the island for couple of hours and then at night take us to the other side of Stromboli mountain to see the lava. We we were dropped on the island, we tried to do some little hikes. After lot of asking around, we found that its possible to hike up to a good vantage point. No one really knew the trail, but just pointed us. We kept walking, very tired from our Etna adventure, kept walking, no sign of lava or anything. Then towards the top, a "boom"! What was that? Soon a restaurant came in the view, and another "boom" and then we looked up to see Stromboli in full action. There were lot of sounds of lava bursting out, and then some lava in view.
