Day 1
Arrived in Rome on schedule at 2pm on Tuesday the 10th. The flight was as good as anticipated with all the trimmings of business class although Chris didn't wear the provided pyjamas. Must have been the Bollinger that helped her sleep better than me! Food was great and the beds fantastic. We think business class might be an ongoing option in future.
Because we were fresh we were off as soon as we had checked in and showered. Aimed for the Trevi fountain on foot after first checking out the local area for dining options and supermarkets. Did quite well until the sky opened up with a massive thunderstorm. Back for coats.
3 hours of walking was enough as the flight started to catch up. Loved what we had seen so far and 4 days may not be enough. Dinner was pizza and pasta and too much wine. Early night.
Day 2
Early start for the colosseum tour and we had to buy our 3 day transport passes. Excellent value so we jumped on the metro. Beautiful morning clear blue sky although it was starting to warm up. It would become very hot before

After dinner we headed to piazza popolo where we had to meet our bus early tomorrow for Pompeii. Given the early start we needed to be sure that
We knew the way. Great day all around. 5.30 rise and all went well and I am catching up on the administration by typing this on the bus. More tomorrow.
