our first view of the coloseum at the end of our street
We got up at 6 this morning and headed straight down our rd being narrowly missed by cars and busses and motorbikes they are good at missing you even though we walked on the road.

had a smooth transition fro the bus to the train in sorrento and easy in naples also with time for a coffee before we boarded the fast train to Rome (a word of warning in Italy have a few 1 euro coins in your pocket for the toilet) the trip to Rome was only just over 1hr at 300 km per hour for most of the way, so we arrived in Rome about 11 am got a taxi to our motel for 15 euro

our motel is just an apartment on the second floor of an old building similar to where we stayed in Jerusalem which has been divided into a few rooms with ensuites, but we can see the Colosseum from the street out the front of the hotel

we couldn't get into the hotel as they don't staff it full time and were not expecting us till 3 so we left our bags in the building by the hotel door hoping

inside the coloseum
they would still be there when we got back and did a tour of the Colosseum and associated ruins the highlight for me was seeing the depiction of AD 70 on the arch of Titus and remembering the words Jesus spoke " Jerusalem will be trodden down of the gentiles UNTIL the time of the gentiles be fufilled, it was even more amazing having just come from Jerusalem now under control of the Jews, this prophecy having been fulfilled we now wait for the rest of Luke 21 and Christ's return.

when we got back to our hotel the staff were there and had brought our bags in so now we are resting before we go out for tea and see what the pizzas are like in Rome so far Jerusalem has the best pizzas.

after dinner (the pizza was better than sorrento but still not as good as Jacobs pizzas in Jerusalem) we walked to the trevi fountain, Rome looks amazing at night all the ancient buildings and ruins are lit up and they are everywhere, as for the trevi fountain, so many people and not that spectacular but that's just my opinion.

while we were

crowds at the coloseum
there a guy offered to take our picture with our camera so we obliged and then we relised he just wanted to take pictures of us with his polaroid, he took 2 and wanted to take more, charged us 5 euro each and they were hopeless photos, but the ones he took on our camera were ok so we considered the payment for them.

back at the hotel now, had a nice gelati on the way home everyone needs a good gelati before bed.
