I had told daddy after our trip to South Africa/Egypt/Greece this summer that my next trip I wanted to go back to Italy to see the place I was born. So this was the time. A 2 hour drive from Valpolicella and we arrived in Sacile. It is a beautiful little town. While we did not go into the hospital, he showed me what room I stayed in after I was born for 2 nights.

We then passed by the town of Aviano. This is the where the Air Force Base was that daddy worked at for 3 years. We were not allowed on it anymore, since daddy is no longer in the military. He showed me the clinic he worked at, which was now a big hospital, and the school my brother went to. We then drove the 15 minute beautiful drive along the base of the dolomites to the town I spent 4 months in, Grizzo. On the way, daddy thought he saw a deer, but I realized before he did that it was fake. He told me that he had seen some deer when he lived there - whatever.

we past through the small little old towns of Marsure, Giais, and Malnisio, before arriving in even smaller Grizzo. We stopped the car and I played on the swings right in front of our old house. After playing there for 1/2 hour, it was off to Mara and Nicola's house where we were to stay for 2 nights. They were my mommy and daddy's best Italian friends when they lived there and they were very excited to have us. They have 2 kids, Greta and Zaira. Zaira is only a little older than me and Greta is 10. They did not speak much English, but it did not matter, we had sooooo much fun playing together.

Daddy said it was just like old times and that he hadn't left. Lots of food and wine and laughs. As daddy was dying to go to Lake Barcis which is 15 minutes away, we headed off there. The weather sucked, but it did not matter. After a few pictures at the lake, we went to Aquila Nera, Daddy's favorite bar/restaurant in the area. Daddy and Nicola drank an old bottle of wine and we ate some food and played. We then stopped off at another place for some Proscuitto before heading back to their house for, of course, more food.

Other friends, Francesca and Paolo came over with their friends, and we ran around and played so much that I fell asleep on the couch while everyone was still there. That was probably a good idea to not stay up as long as the adults did, as the next day we were going to Venezia!
