Another relaxing beach day today. There are two beach in Positano, one is more popular than the other as it is close to the main city centre with all of the shops and restaurants. Antonio, our concierge at the hotel told us to go to the second beach as the hotel also has an "agreement" and the chairs are cheaper to rent.
The water was amazing. It was like nothing I have ever seen. Definitely more beautiful than the beach in Barcelona and much less crowed. I wish we could have stayed a couple more days just to be at the beach. I like sightseeing but I think the beach there was one of my favorite parts of the trip so far even though Anacapri and Capri were amazing. Plus the food at the restaurant was really really good. Our original plan was to just snack at lunch time and go out for a fancy dinner but we ended up getting Bruscetta, Caprese Salad, Proscutto with Melon and Tuna Salad to split. I'm fairly sure that one was of the best meals we will have eaten.
I don't think I have mentioned it yet but the stairs in Positano are
ridiculous. Even walking down to the beach was exhausting due to the amount of winding staircases and unbearable heat. Therefore, to get home we took a small boat to the more popular beach, which was closer to our hotel, and walked up the staircases from there. That walk alone made up for my many missed Pilates classes but at least it wasn't half as bad at the walk we would have done from where we were. Not to mention we got to take pictures of the city and check out a couple of the shops. I think the clothing here is really nice but a little to pricey for the quality. I'm saving my shopping for the big cities where hopefully I will be able to find some good souvenirs. The only think I regret not buying was a decorated plate with a picture of Positano imprinted on it.
Even though we ate a gigantic lunch we wanted to go for dinner at one of the restaurants recommended to us by the hotel. The restaurant we chose, Costantino, is situated a little bit higher on the mountain than the hotel so we got a phenomenal view of all of Positano.
Out table was close enough to the window that we could see everything. I say close enough but we agreed that this particular restaurant is very focused on couples. All of the table for two were seated right beside the windows and the waiters basically ignored us. We ended up sitting there for over three hours from the time we asked for water until we got the bill. Sadly, we didn't get back in time to say goodbye to our friend at the hotel. He was so nice and everything he told us was helpful. We were all upset that we didn't get to thank him one last time.
Our last day is Positano was almost perfect. It truly is what they say, a little Paradise. I would love to come back again one day but stay for much longer. We stayed the Best Western Hotel Pastiea and I would recommended it again and again. Next up is Florence, Italy.
