STORY BEHIND NAMES:
Achillea Millefolium :
1: It is named after Achilles, the Ancient Greek hero that was immortal and invulnerable except for his heel. The name of the plant was linked to this myth due to the plants reputation for accelerating wound healing
2: Achilles used plant extracts to treat soldiers' wounds in the battle of Troy
Millefolium : It refers to the finely divided leaves that appear to have thousands of segments. ' Mille' means a thousand and 'folia' means leaves in Latin.
Devil's Nettle, Devil's Plaything, Bad Man's Plaything : it was associated with the Abrahamic devil
Old Man's Pepper: Due to its pungent flavour
Field Hop: Refers to its use in Sweden as beer is made from Harrow

This was taken in Pisa in November 21, in November. The plant was not in flower. ■Yarrow beer has been brewed from this plant in Europe, since the Middle Ages
■The dried leaves can be used as a tea to soothe colds, fever and headaches. This tea can also supplement urinary health
■The crushed plant can be applied to wounds and burns to ease them
■The plant can induce sweating
■The fresh leaves can be chewed to relieve toothache

WHERE AND WHEN IT GROWS : it is native to temperate regions of the Northern hemisphere in Asia, Europe and North America, from the coast to alpine zones. It has a circumboreal distribution.
HERBACEOUS FLOWERING PERENNIAL plant. It blooms from April to October. It originally grew in white and yellow varieties but it is now available in pink, magenta, salmon, red, gold and yellow. It has a frilly-fern like foliage and flat-topped, dome-shaped clusters or small white flowers

Also taken in the Botanical Gardens of Pisa. In the picture we can see one flower but as the plant flowers between April and October and I saw the plant in November, I'd just missed the flowering. inappetenza - lack of appetite

This is a much clearer picture than the others. It was taken in the Botanical Gardens in Naples. warm summers and cool to cold winters (Simmons, 2015) Most of Europe would be considered as a temperate climate.
