Now a restaurant Back in the car and more wonderful coastline, before Salerno, then inland towards the snow capped mountains and old township of Eboli.
As is often the case in the old centres it was hard to find our accommodation: one way streets and "tommy" our gps is telling us to go to up them the wrong way. Naughty lad. Thank goodness for the phone. Our hosts met us and directed us to a parking space near the apartment. Looks like pizza for tea! Yum.
We walked all over the Centro, which is the name for the old sector of towns, again beautiful: many wonderful old doors, gates, passages and stairways, however there is a sadness to the town. Many abandoned old buildings are falling into disrepair and many apartments are for sale (vendesi) - a renovators delight. Oh if only we were rich! The earthquakes in 1980 caused much damage and perhaps people could not afford the necessary structural repairs.
Our apartment is a newly renovated modern space, in an old building, above a wonderful restaurant which sadly is closed ONLY tonight of all nights! Heaters are on as the weather is much colder here than on the coast
View towards salerno
On the road from Praiano and quite close to the mountains (Monti Picentini).
from the map it looks like tomorrow we will drive through the edge of the mountains on our way to Matera.

Gotta be one of the best restaurants in the World for location, location, location. Did the meal reach the same heights?
