Can you tell our faces are green?
Day 8 : Friday 13 September 2019 : Positano and Amalfi

We bought a Hop on Hop off bus ticket to take us through to Amalfi and then we would stop off at the other towns on the way back to Sorrento, big day, but can’t wait. On the bus we climbed, standing room only and head off, and we pick up more and more and more people until you can’t move and the bus is over crammed. Add to this the driver is quite erratic and we’re flying down roads, stopping suddenly, and flying around the corner with very very windy roads, everyone in the bus was extremely motion sick. Someone had already thrown up down the back, and at the first stop in Positano, everybody filed off the bus with very green faces.

What do we do now, we couldn’t get back on the bus? Positano was beautiful, but it was supposed to be our last stop. We decided to buy ferry tickets (€8pp ow) but it only stops at Amalfi. Motion sick tablets for the girls who are very green still and off we go.

Amalfi wasn’t what we expected as the town is

From the ferry to Amalfi
back off the water, but it was lovely, and of course we just had to swim in the amazingly clear waters of the Amalfi Coast, especially on such a lovely warm day. Great seafood too. We took a walk to little Atrani, but it was extremely tiny and although lovely, not amazing. We debated hiking to Ravello, but information was scarce, as was the buses and did we want more windy roads? Decided it was way too hot, so back to Amalfi for a swim and some food. You have to find a beach without ferries and that’s public, so we headed to the Marina for a swim.

Ferried again back to Positano (€32pp ow), for a better look around. Positano is exactly as they show in all those in all those magnificent photos of the Amalfi coast…..magnificent. Gelato time.

We didn’t make it to Praiano, Conca dei Marini or Ravello, but we had an awesome time in Amalfi and Positano regardless.

Big decisions……….do we ride the bus back? Oh my, there are so many people at the bus stop. Turns out they put 2 buses on to go back, they’re not overpacked, you can get a

On the ferry. We may be green, but we're still smiling. Ok there was a touch of tension when we wondered how we were going to get around
seat, and the driver was a clam driver. What a lovely drive back and we got to enjoy the view, no car sickness.

We loved our takeaway on the lawn above the beach so much the night before, and we’d had a long day, so we headed back to do it again (€24), minus the pizza, but yummo paninis.

Walked 12kms or 20600 steps and 29 floors. CC €88 Cash €40
