My true nature has come out
Halloween Italia 2007. ROCK ON So what have I been doing this past month??? Where do I start...
How about with FOOD!! since I love it so much.
Turns out ive put on like 5kg in 3months, oh well, you only life once, im in Italy, its part of the exchange process, and holy crap the food is sooo good. Words cannot describe the goodness! and even the novelty of taking a trip to the big Italian supermarket wasnt worn off yet.
Lets just say when Italians brag about their their food being the best in world, trust me they have a
very good reason for it.
And therefore im taking advantage of having this good food at bay. and it turns out I now have a bad chocolate addiction as well as a new found love for salt. Not to mention it doesnt help that every second day they'res some big dinner or 'festa' where its obbligatory that everybody eats too much.
I went to the Aunt of my host Dad's house the other day for Sunday lunch. and I have NEVER in my life had an experience of eating like that. It wasnt just the fact of how much pasta they had (you cannot
even imagine).
But it was how they were all shouting at each other (and at me) to 'MANGIA MANGIA!!' or more precisely in English 'EAT EAT!!!!!'.
I had to keep reminding myself that they arent angry thats just how they eat. but I have to admit boy was I scared.
It was a fun day all in all, but damn did I eat wayyyyy to much sweet stuff. Especially tiramisu, because that stuff is hard to stop eating.
Its not my fault I swear! Im going to blame it on those Aunts who kept telling me to 'FINISH IT! FINISH IT!'.
Speaking of sweet stuff... I also experienced an Italian Halloween.
but unfourtnetly it was surprisingly similar to a New Zealand one.
So I went trick'o'treating with my friend Alyssa and her little brother and sister. and we went around the appartment blocks next to mine. We experienced some strange things and very strange people that had us laughing for hours on end.
It was a little dissapointing, that like NZ, people dont celebrate Halloween to a big extent over here, so many people werent home or just didnt open their doors etc. but we still got alot of
sweets, ate way toooo much and laughed too much.
by the end of it I had a sore tummy for all of those reasons.
After that I went out to a pub with Luciano and his friends. We all went out dressed in our Halloween gear, and ready for some fright.
The whole pub was in a festive mood. and the whole night was a hell of alot of fun!
There were four giant balloons that we managed to continue throwing around the pub all night.
And we only managed to pop one of the balloons! A good effort if you ask me. Although somethings in the pub almost got broken.
Luciano kept knocking all the candles on the other tables over with them.
And I got into an very interesting volleyball match with a dude wearing a wizard hat on one of the other tables.
I also had the privledge of experiencing my first snow! OH YEAH! We went to the moutain about 3weekends ago. and had a massive snow fight, I was a little bit OVERALLY hypo and I was jumping and running around in just a t-shirt. Im going to blame my crazy New Zealand genes.
During our grande snow battle my host dad ended up planting a snowball perfectly agaisnt my left eye (yes I had a black eye the next day) but all I could do was laugh. and I guess I kind of deserved since I was the one who sent the snow flying at him first, hehe whoops.
After that we had to wait 2hours for a table at a moutain restuarant. Thats the thing about Italy, be prepared to wait! Cause you will be, without a doubt.
Other highlights this month.
- Sitting in a bar with my friends for breakfast, everyone bundled up in their big coats, eating a crossiant and drinking hot chocolate (Dont do that in NZ)
- Having my first choir session. And singing an Italian song at the top of my voice
- Beating Emanuale at pool (that guy is the man!)
- Me and Laura making our own discotecha at my house on Saturday night and breaking out our moves!
Thats all for this installment dudes. I'll try to keep this thing updated more regularly in the future, but I cant promise you. Lets just say ive become a bit more on the
relaxed side of things (in other words im now a lazy-bum).
Ti voglio bene! Baci! xxx
