Once the hangover was over from Arthurs Day we headed to Corey's parents hotel as they had finally arrived to spend the weekend away with us! We had a few drinks and talked a lot and caught up on the goss back home. We headed up to their hotel room to check it out and receive a few presents and letters from back home which was well and truly needed!
The next day we were up nice and early and made our way down to Cobh (pronounced cove) This seaside town was so beautiful! It was like cork, it had different coloured houses and the streets were a little hilly. We visited a MASSIVE cathedral named St Colemans Cathedral. We also visited the local heritage centre where they had the Queenstown Titanic exhibition as Cobh was the last port of call of the Titanic. It was a great exhibition where we learnt alot about the titanic and alot about the emigration from Ireland to the US and also Australia!!
We hopped back into the hire car and made our way to Kinsale, another beautiful small seaside colourful town. We walked the streets and did a little bit of shopping.
We stopped for lunch at the local pub called Ned Kellys - I did ask why it was called this and the guy said something interesting but to be honest none of us could understand his thick accent haha!
After Kinsale we continued along the south coast of County Cork through small towns such as Clonakilty, Leap, Skibbereen, Ballydehop and then up to Bantry stopping along the way to take some breath taking photographs of the amazing coastal views. We then drove through part of the Ring of Kerry, through the Killarney National Park (which was AMAZING!) and then through Killarney up to Tralee where we were staying the night.
It was a massive drive but we finally arrived at our castle. Yes literally! We were staying in a Castle overnight for the first time in our lives.. and maybe the last! After relaxing for a bit in our massive king beds we headed to the Castles bar for dinner and drinks - which was a lot of fun! The next morning after checking out the castles grounds and having relaxing bubble baths we made our way to the Dingle Peninsula and finally to the small touristy town,
Dingle. This cute seaside town was stunning. After a bit of window shopping and actual shopping we said farewell to Dingle and made our way around the peninsula and back to Tralee. After stopping for a quick lunch at Subway we made our way back home to Cork slowly stopping along the way. We stopped at Macroom for afternoon tea and a coffee and some quick photographs. We visited a small sweet shop where Corey purchased some fudge and I purchased some Belgium chocolate which was delicious! We hopped back in the car and made it home just in time for dinner. That night we headed to Market Lane, a restaurant literally 15 seconds from our apartment - and is an extremely popular restaurant for tourists and locals. The food was exquisite! especially the desserts!
We said our goodbyes to Sue and Gary as they left for Bed and Breakfast and us back home to face reality of Uni and Work for the next week. It was hard to say goodbye as it would be 10 or so months until we would see them again. We waved them off as the drove out of the city and to embark
on the rest of their adventures abroad.
