Cahir Castle, Rock of Cashel, and off to Dublin

On our way to Dublin we visited Cahir Castle, Swiss Cottage, Rock of Cashel, and Cashel Cathedral. We stayed one night at a B&B, The Rockville House, in Cashel.

Cahir Castle
This is one of the outer towers of this 15th century castle. It is located on the River Suir.

The Rock of Cashel, County Tipperary
This is a view of the Rock of Cashel and Cashel Cathedral from our B&B. This was the seat of the ancient kings of Munster. The Rock was strategically located, and was fought over by rival clans for hundreds of years. Murtagh O'Brien gave The Rock to the Church in 1101. This not only prevented his rivals from regaining possession of it, but gave him preferred status in the Church.
