ENTRY INTO ASHFORD CASTLE

WOW!!! One word description of The Ashford Castle Hotel. We spent three nights to celebrate our 50th anniversary. It was the perfect place to celebrate our special day and was the experience of a lifetime. What an elegant, beautiful hotel with over the top service. The setting over the Corrib lake was gorgeous. To celebrate our anniversary, we had the eight course tasting menu with a bottle of bubbly (the go to term for champagne in Ireland!) We brought some champagne glasses that we had engraved to commemorate the occasion with a delicious bottle of French champagne. Dinner lasted 3 ½ hours and every course was a work of art. What a memorable 3 1/2 hours.

While at Ashford Castle, we took several walks on 350 acres and saw beautiful scenery and trees that reminded us of the redwood in California. The small quaint village of Cong is also nearby and the John Wayne movie was filmed there in 1952. They even commemorate the occasion with a bronze statue.
