Alex arrived to collect Steph this morning at 9am - which I don't think anyone was quite ready for haha. We then headed up to the hotel for breakfast and was joined by Julie and also friends of Alex's, Ian and Stephen. After breakfast we checked out of our lodge and David & Nick did a run with all our bags to the new accommodation at Kilshane House (location of the wedding!). Once all this was done, Carol, David, Nick and I headed off to the town of Cashel to see the castle.
The oldest building one the Rock of Cashel is the Round Tower that dates back to 1100. Cormac's Chapel commenced being built in 1127 and was consecrated in 1134. More buildings were erected on the site over the next century or so, including the Cathedral. It is wonderful to be able to walk around and through most of these structures and the views across the valleys is beautiful too.
After managing to avoid the rain we made our way into the town centre and found a nice place for lunch, called Mikey Ryan's. It was definitely a soup and bread roll day! After lunch we wandered
through the town and grabbed a few items from the supermarket. We enjoyed the drive through the countryside to Kilshane House, in Bansha. After checking in we headed to our cottage - Dower House. This house has four bedrooms upstairs and then lots of living space downstairs. Julie and I both had my own rooms and then Nick & David had one and Cormac and Jen would join us the next day.
Tonight is the pre-wedding party and this was due to start at 7:30. After getting ready we met downstairs and had a little pre dinner drink. Nick outdid himself with his choice of attire! Nick and David had been teasing Brid and Alex about what they would wear to the wedding so they both decided to wear something that would stand out to tonight's event instead. They both looked so handsome! We decided to turn up 'fashionably late' to the dinner in the Conservatory and it was so funny because everyone was already there, sitting at tables and eating. We, and by we I mean Nick, made quite the entrance! Needless to say, Brid was now concerned about what they might have planned for the next day
haha. We joined Tommy & Laura and girls at their table and enjoyed our dinner with a few laughs and drinks.
After dinner a group of us headed downstairs to help out with the folding of the pamphlet's for the wedding service. It was lovely to spend time with Ellen and all the SIL's. The bar stayed open and a few drinks were had and even though tonight would be the 'early night' there were still plenty of things to be done. I helped Steph with some things she wanted to sort out for tomorrow and after our final briefing by the bride, we eventually were able to head to bed. Admittedly it was sometime after midnight when this occurred haha.
