I was up at 8 this morning as I was going to head up to see Brid and then take Charlie for a walk so he could sleep. Brid was looking great this morning and didn't seem to be tired or stressed at all. This is most likely due to her superb organisation skills! After Charlie was fed and changed, I took him downstairs to his pram. Within about 5 minutes of being in the pram the little darling was asleep. I walked the length of the driveway down to the lake. What a beautiful little spot which I am sure comes in handy for wedding photos. There was a little boat that you could row - very Bridget Jones! After walking further, I came across a river that had some swans on it. It was then time to start heading back to the house, as Brid had organised a babysitter and she was arriving at 9:30am.
Once back at the house I handed Charlie over to the sitter. He was still asleep, which was great. I quickly headed downstairs to grab some breakfast and spent some time saying hi to the family. Brid then asked me to take Charlie's
suit over to Alex's room so we could take some photos of them side by side. It was lovely to see Alex on his big day! Cormac and Jen arrived not long before we headed off and it was great to see them again!
The wedding was to commence at 2pm at the church in Bansha and Brid wanted everyone seated by 1:45pm - so time was spent getting ready amd making sure we were on time. Everything so far had worked like clockwork and the wedding was to be no different. The church filled up and before you knew it, the bridal party had arrived. Firstly little Zac (Alex's nephew walked or actually, ran down the aisle), then Amy and Zoe had their turn and they did such a great job! Next came Ellen and she looked stunning! El was followed by Steph who also looked stunning and then Brid entered on the arm of her brother Sean. Wow - I got teary, I was so happy for her!
It was a beautiful wedding ceremony and the priest was hilarious. I read one of the Prayers of the Faithful, which I was very honoured to do. Even
though rain had been threatening all day, we were really lucky that when we needed to be outside, the rain held off. After the ceremony we all gathered outside the church and congratulated the bride and groom. We then all headed back to Kilshane House for the start of the wedding celebration, while the bridal party headed off for photos. On arrival we were given cocktails to chose from and everyone mingled. Kilshane House is such a beautiful place for a wedding - very special!
Brid and Alex came back to the house and more photos were taken, including all the family members and Charlie even got a look in. We had fun taking photos of them having photos and then we went outside for a group shot. Nick had somehow disappeared and we were worried he was going to miss out but just before the photographer shot, he reappeared! What will be funny though is he stood in three different spots for each of the three photos - so we will be able to play 'where's Nick' when those photos are developed haha.
It was soon time to head to the main room for the dinner -
and what a feast it was! The food was delicious and the serves were huge - no one was going hungry tonight! No one was going thirsty either as the wines were flowing (oh, amd water). The speeches were all fantastic - not one gringe worthy moment, thank goodness. David was the MC and he did a marvellous job - especially considering he was nominated for the job yesterday evening! The cake was cut and the dancing began. There was band, who were great but perhaps a tad too loud as we headed outside to talk, in between a boogie or two. So much fun! We danced the night away. The band was followed by a DJ and in true Irish wedding style, there didn't seem to be an end to the evening. Nick and I decided to bail around 2:30am, leaving David to continue on partying for the rest of us!
