On Thursday November 17th my family came. That morning I woke up early to go the gym and was just about to run home when I got a text from my dad that he and my grandma were at the Cathedral. I ran as fast as I could there and was absolutely delighted to see that not only was my grandma and my dad there, but Kelsi had come too! It was one of the best surprises I could have had. I missed her more than I thought I would and seeing her there was so exciting. Of course they were all exhausted and it was pouring ran, but seeing them was amazing. I hadn't quite planned out my timing for their arrival, so I still had to go back to my room and shower. They all came with me and I showed them my room. Grandma and Kelsi almost fell asleep as I showered. Once I was done I brought them to Esquires because I was starving and wanted coffee. I hadn't realized how different it would be going around in a car rather than walking. I was confused on how to direct my dad because I was so used
to walking down all sorts of streets regardless of if traffic was one way. Once we had eaten grandma definitely needed a nap. Dad and grandma went back to the bnb and I took Kelsi to go meet Bre and Brooke who were at a cafe. After that we went shopping for a little bit. Kelsi was exhausted, but she was trying so hard to stay awake. After we went into some shops I took Kelsi back to my room where we hung out for a little. Then we texted dad and told him we were hungry, but while we waited for him to respond we went to Bre's room and saw how her "fake packing" was going.
For some reason the entire time that they were all here it was absolutely freezing. Even now, it's not nearly as cold as it was during their visit. So walking from Gort to the bnb was such a struggle. Once Kelsi and I got there we decided it was time for dinner. I wasn't really sure of where to take them, so I figured Milano's was always a safe bet. We walked into town and I'm pretty sure Kelsi fell asleep
at the dinner table. After dinner I knew it was time for them to go to bed. I left them with the plan that they would pick me up in the morning and we would go out to the cliffs.
The next morning they picked me up, but of course I made them stop for coffee. I can't go anywhere without some coffee first. We drove out to the cliffs and honestly I thought Kelsi and I were going to throw up. During my time in Ireland I have realized that despite how much I try to deny it, I do in fact suffer from motion sickness. Planes kill me, and winding roads like Irish ones make my stomach do flips. I'm so torn though because I think those roads are so beautiful, they just make me so sick.
We finally made it to the cliffs and it was freezing, but the day was rather clear. We went to the cafe first and grandma decided to stay there. It is a good thing she did because I'm pretty sure she would have flown off of the side of a cliff. So Kelsi and dad and I made our
way to the top. Although I had been there only a couple of weeks ago, it was still no less breathtaking. The views were all so different and yet the same. I loved it just as much as when I was there before, although I could have done without the extreme temperatures. We ate some food in the cafe and shopped a bit in the gift shop before we decided to make our way back to Galway.
We drove back, this time on straighter roads. Our next stop was Bunratty Castle in County Clare. Yes, I had been there already too, but I really did love that place. This time Kelsi and I got to explore the entirety of the castle because it was so empty. The first time I had gone it was much to crowded to really see the entire place. Then I got to go into all of my favorite cottages again and show dad and Kelsi and grandma why I loved them so much. I wanted to stay much longer there, but grandma was getting tired so we decided to go have an early dinner. We stopped on the way back to Galway at the
restaurant that was so good. it had a beautiful and big fire that warmed me to the core and the food was really good. I only got seafood chowder because I had had one of my favorite things from Ireland, a gas station sandwich. I know what you all are thinking, that sounds gross. But no, let me tell you about the gas station sandwich. This place makes a customized sandwich on great bread. I would eat one of those sandwiches every single day if I could. That reminds me that I need to get one before I have to go home. Anyway, after we ate we went back to Galway. The next day I was going to meet them in the morning, and then they were going to go to Spideal and I was going to have a girls day with Roisin, Aisling, and Bre.
The rest of their visit went by quickly. The next day was Sunday and we took the long trip down to Kilkenny to visit my family again. Of course I was so excited to see them and it was really nice because they knew me now. Kelsi, dad, and I went to Kilkenny Castle again and we did some local tourist stuff before going out to dinner with everyone. After that we went back to Nancy's where they had cake and presents waiting for me because the next day was my birthday. I can't even explain how happy and surprised I was that they had gifts for me. I got a wonderful Kilkenny hurling jersey and I was so happy because I could now represent my grandpa's favorite team. That means a lot to me to be able to do that. We stayed there until about 8:30pm and then we made the journey back to Galway. On Monday morning, my 21st birthday, Dad
