We took a bus ride from Dublin to Galway that took about 4 hours. The roads are skinny here and full of pot holes so sleeping on the bus is almost impossible. While we weren't ping ponging our heads off of the windows or the seat in front of us trying to get some shut eye we were enjoying the beautiful scenery. Everything is so green here, beautiful plants flowers, daffodils are EVERYWHERE, it's absolutely gorgeous. We arrived just in time because all of us had to use the bathroom by the time we got there. We ran to the use the bathroon and noticed that we needed 20 Cents to use it. We all scrambled through our purses and pockets for a 20 cent coin and found one for everyone. We only had to walk for about 10 minutes to find our hotel. we got there just in time to check in, grab a late lunch and walk around a little. Our hotel was about 3 minutes from the Eyre square which is where all the festivities the next day were going to take place. Everyone was gearing up for the St Patricks day celebrations occuring the next day. Thankfully
it has only sprinkled rain once since we've been here. It's a little chilly but a sweatshirt will suffice. We went to bed early this night so we could wake up to do a tour before the St Patricks nights festivities.
Day 2 in Galway
Today is St Patricks Day. The Irish holiday that consists of celebrating being Irish!!! Unfortunately none of us are and standing out like a sore thumb is something we've just come acustomed to. Every public bathroom now has a meter that needs to be fed before you can relieve yourself, but the people are WAAAY more friendly here than London. We got to do a tour where we visited the Cliffs of Moher, O'briens castle, and an amazing old cave found hundreds of years ago by a local man chasing after his jack russel terrier. Our tour guide was great, gave us too much history to even begin to type out here and also gave us some Irish words to use for the evening 😊. The landscapes and ocean here is absolutely amazing. We will post pictures someday soon. It's breathtaking being here, a perfect mixture of the East and West coasts at
home. Green and lush, all different types of plants here mixed with amazing cliffs with crashing waves. The tour was one of the most amazing ones we've been on so far. the land is made of rolling hills separated by dry stack walls made by the settlers as fences to keep in animals and clearly divide properties. That tour was an experience that words just can't do justice for.
When we got back from the tour it was time to celebrate St. Patties day with all the crazy people in the town. This town was small enough that you could make your rounds at the pubs and stilll come back and recognize people. It was a blast meeting people who had come to Ireland for the same reason as us, to celebrate St. Patricks Day. Everyone was so nice and friendly and willing to strike up a conversation. As you can probably guess, the night was fun, but details probably not necessary at this time 😉
Good Night!
