To Ireland So since im just waiting for Louise to get home from work, I thought id do a quick little update on the goings on so far...
My flight left Vancouver at about 530 pm on April 4th. Thankfully it was a direct flight AND i got window seat haha. Although there wasnt much in the way of entertainment on the flight, I got to see the rockies for the first hour or so and then once I was up over the North West Territories the northern lights were RIGHT outside my window. Now I had never seen the northern lights before but they were absolutely beautiful. I didnt get a wink of sleep and yet somehow the guy next to me managed to be zonked out for most of the flight. He was a local to London so as we flew in he was pointing many things out to me. I saw where they filmed the Dursleys house in Harry Potter 3!!! lol.
Once I landed in Heathrow I had to go catch the national express to Gatwick airport. I still wasnt tired at that point because it was only about 200am my time. Once I got to Gatwick (which by the way is a terrible airport, I got completely lost) I had about three hours to kill so I wandered the shops and made friends with people around me. Everyone is really friendly in the UK Ive come to notice. Ive met people at every stop!!! OH LINA guess what! I met a guy at Gatwick named Shane who looked like a smaller version of Hiram! Except he was from Madrid haha. The flight from Gatwick to Dublin was only about 50 minutes long, so that was nice. Louise met me at the airport and we went straight to her place from there. Course driving on the opposite side of the road is taking some getting use to!!! Everything here is completely backwards. I mean you go to cross the street and to see if a cars coming, you have to look the OPPOSITE way. Yeah that caused me some grief haha. The houses here are SO cute. Theres little castles and manors (like in Secret Garden) oh and theres these tiny little towsn with like, 10 houses and a bar and a shop or two (JUST like emmerdale or cornation street lol)
I ended up crashing at about 9pm (ireland time) and I didnt wake until 930 the next morning, or as they call it here; half nine. Im starting to really pick up on the lingo so thats good haha. Sometimes when people talk tho, they speak so fast and their accents are so thick you cant hardly understand them. Throw some local lingo in there and your totally messed up haha.
I just got back from "the shops" a few hours ago where I managed to pick up some cute shoes and a top for only about 30 dollars Canadian. Even with the conversion the shopping isnt really that expensive (which is FANTASTIC NEWS!!!) So in otherwords.... i probably wont have much money when I get home haha.
Im not sure what the plan is for the rest of the day, but I think tomorrow and Saturday were going to do some shopping in the heart of Dublin and visit all the touristy places. Cant wait! Anyhow, im off.
