Sleeping in till 9 was glorious. It was nice not having to rush around to catch the bus. We put our luggage in storage at that hotel while we got some breakfast and headed to Trinity College. We went to a little cafe and had coffee and scones. The scone was a little different than the traditional scones I've had, but it was so good.
Then, we walked down to Trinity College. Due to the walking tour our tour manager gave us last week, I actually know where I'm going. Although, I did need help finding the entrance. A nice American overheard us and pointing us in the right direction. The campus is so beautiful with its old buildings and green grass. We find where The Book of Kells is housed. There is a line, but it seems to be moving fast. Once we get up to the ticket counter, the man tells us that we can't buy campus tour tickets there, just the tickets to see The Book of Kells. It would've been nice to get the tour, but I'm mostly interested in seeing the book. There was so much information to read about prior to going into the
room. Then, I made my way into the room. The pages that are on display changes. It was amazing to look at pages of books that were made centuries ago. It was beautiful, and I thought I took pride in my handwriting. Next, I went up to the Old Library. There were floor to ceiling shelves of old books. I was blown away! The architecture was so interesting to see. There were busts on outside of the shelves of famous authors starting with Plato and Socrates. After shopping in the gift shop, we head back to the hotel to get our things and check into the luxury hotel where we will be finishing our vacation up at.
The Marker is located in the Docklands area of Dublin. It is a new and upcoming area of the city, especially for business. A bell hop comes right out and takes our luggage inside, which was amazing considering I've been my own bell hop for 2 weeks. The hotel is gorgeous and so modern. The same bell hop helps us to our room and shows us all the complimentary items the hotel offers. Such great service! Then, we head to an Italian
place for a late lunch.
After relaxing in luxury, we get ready to go back to Temple Bar. The door man got us a cab and we headed back to the pub we went to last Saturday to see the band, who was amazing. The Chinese cab driver didn't know where the pub was, so we were left navigating ourselves. We finally find it, but the band isn't the same even though the website said it would be. Only the tin whistle player was the same. So had a drink, moved on and had a great night.
