St Marys Pro-Catherdral
The Ceiling was just Breath Taking the photos just do it justice Today started early 6am, I was a little more organized today had tioletries and clothes for day already to go. I say this because under our beds we have a locked basket that has our luggage in it and when you open them its like dragging metal nails down a metal blackboard, hence I dont feel comfy waking a room full of past out party goers.
I took off at 7.30am and walked down the main street of Dublin to take some photos, 1st stop was a chai latte (how I miss Gloria, ahhhh).
The street was so busy at this time, people everywhere and yes I saw my first every gypsy begging for coins. They are well oraganized they sit under the pay stations for parking, outside churches and oh at the supermrket when you tell them you have no money on you they ask for your food that you just purchased whilst holiding one of there children in their arms very good hey.
As I walked up and down O'connell street I found myself following the crowd, 'not a good idea' JAY WALKING is a favorite pass time and the Irish are very bold about it. Half the
Mr Moore
Well hello Mr Moore. I cant help it if my name is famous pedestrians dont even look they just step out and walk and all you hear is motorists beeping their horns. Hows this! the authoristies obviosly well aware at the lack of patiences thier locals have so when you get to the lights and press to cross, the lights are fitted with a second counter which counts down the time to a light change, Not very effective I must say.
I was sitting under the statue fo Mr Oconnell himself watching everyone go by when my thoughts were interupted by a loud street cleaner. I turned to see a man walking along with a van, armed with a pressure cleaner, Get this he was cleaning of the PARTY PARTY that was depositted over the street from the party goers. YUK
At this point I thought I would head back to the Marlbourough Hostel and yes it is in Marlbourough street. The Hostel is right next door to a Cathedral, the massive iron gates were open so I decided to have a look. WOW absolutely magnificent it totally blew me aware the ceiling was huge, a dome shape with biblical figures featured in the celing and to the sides there was beautiful stained
glass windows in a checkered pattern.
As I walked around St Marys Pro-Cathedral I couldnt believe how busy it was people were coming and going the whole time I was there. There is four confessional boxes and many alters to worship and prey at. You could donate 25c to light a candle and prey to Jesus, The Virgin Mary, a Cheltic Cross and many more of whom Im not familair with. I stopped at the alter of The Virgin Mary and light a candle for my mum.
The pews were made of beautiful timber with detailed carvings at the end of each one.The Cathedral had such a presence of peace and comfort.
I sat for a while and as I looked over my shoulder, a little old lady was sorting out a bag of bread. She must have begged for the bread and was putting the fresh pieces to the bottom of the bag and the old on top. There was a lot of people in need here you could see the desperation in some of their eyes as they walked in to church seeking some help, peace, refuge, answers, love, guidance and forgiveness.
I tell you look
Just being Green
The buildings are so pleasant on the eye around at what you have and be ever so greatful, we live in a clean beautiful country where we have opportunity and prosperity on tap.
Ok so now Im feeling brave and decided to go for a walk armed with a map HA HA HA. I was looking for a car rental company did I find it 'No', did I get lost YES. Well in Aus we have street signs it took me a while to look UP UP UP and find the street signs were on the side of buildings. Also evey now then you will come across a street sign saying EG; Grofton street area but im not in Grofton street, and just then I could the Irish saying but ey lassie its around here somewhere.
And guess what I did come across Grofton Street Its a famous shopping strip on the up side of town It was great. Their were buskers playing classical music, jesters, beautiful flower stalls, friut stalls, and Celtic Jewellery stalls. The street was beautified by flower pots and baskets and men stood along the strip holding large signs promoting buisness down the side streets, "You think your jobs boring".
As I was
Grafton Street
People everywhere trying to find my way back to the Hostel I came across this massive park called St Stephens Green it would have to be one of the most amazing parks ive been to, It was lush, clean, busy and full off great places to stop and take it all in. As I left the park I came across the best statue I have ever seen and probably ever will his name was MOORE of course, HE HE HE.
Well I eventually found my way back to the hostel five hours later, all in good days exploring we will call it.
