There is a 12 kilometre cliff top path between Fira and Oia and we walked it today. The route goes through the villages of Firostefani and Imeroviglia then over two hills before dropping down to Oia. Extensive views of the caldera and its surrounding cliffs can be seen which are not available from elsewhere and best of all its away from the crowds!

We had been given an introduction to Doris who lives in Imeroviglia. We met her there and we enjoyed her company for about an hour as she walked with us. Her grandparents came from Santorini. She moved back there about 10 years ago and now has one of the cave houses. It was really interesting to hear of the history of the island and what it is like to live there.
