Over the last few days we had been drifting north east in the Peloponnese but to finish our exploration of the area we wanted to be in the south west. Fortunately there is a motorway so in an hour we were driving through Kalamata where a week before we had enjoyed their extensive food market.

Kalamata is the gateway to the middle and most remote of the Peloponnese three peninsular, the Mani and the area we intended to spend the next few days. The Mani is split into two sections, The Exo (Outer) in the north and the Mani (Deep) in the south.

As we drove along the east coast of the Exo we were surprised how developed it was but this gradually died out, we crossed a mountain range in hazy conditions and dropped down into Kardamyli, an attractive resort coastal town with a mountainous backing, this evening covered in mist. We were able to share with a few other vans our night stop on some waste ground right by the beach.
