The capital of the prefecture of Lasithi, in Crete, is surely one of the most beautiful and most picturesque places in Greece. It takes its name out of a chapel built in the bay of Agios Nikolaos. Downtown, one can see the lake «Vouliagmeni”, a small lagoon. Ancient Greeks believed that the goddesses Artemis and Athena used to bathe in this lake. At the bay of the city sailing races are often organized. Finally, from the hill of Saint Charalambos, you can enjoy the view over the city and the sea which is really beautiful.
