Well, well, well...
Being deep in preparations.
Today I booked my flight for the 30.11. to BKK. There I will leave my bike in a storage (
http://www.bangkokairportonline.com/node/134 ). I am very curious about the price and safety - it looks very weird and open :-)
From Bangkok I will go to China first since I got business to do in Shenzhen. That will be an interesting trip. Again I will sleep in a SPA center since it is much cheaper than usual hotels. And I hope to meet my friend Amen there and looking forward to long talks in the lounge chairs about what is happening around the world...
My biggest problem today was to remove the SIMlock on my Lumia 925 (best phone I had ever, much better than my iPhone or Galaxy). When I bought/contracted it at Orange in Spain, i was promised I could unlock it for 50 EUR. Before I left Spain, I called Orange and they said I would have to pay a fine of 100 EUR. I was not willing to pay a fine - for what. I am not cancelling my contract. So I went to the store 2 weeks ago and they told me to get an illegal unlock... but that would have taken 4 days and I was about to leave in a day or two. So today I was ready to give up and I decided to pay the 100 EUR. My friend Christina called Orange and suddenly they wanted me to pay 460 EUR!!! The price of a new phone. WTF! I got so mad that I was willing to risk it and do something stupid: you really should not give your phone number and IMEI to a foreign website that promises to unlock your phone. Anyway - I did it.

I will tell you in 4 days what happened, if it worked or not...
Today Benno and I unpacked my bike from the half damaged carton and checked it. He has some mixed pedals. Explanation: I have mounted click-pedals that will allow you to lock your (special) shoes to the pedal. Therefore you can double your force and kick and pull the pedals at the same time. The difficulty sometimes is to get out of the lock. More than once I had a situation where I needed to get my feet on the ground (e.g. lost traction on gravel in a curve) but I could not fast enough. And _BANG_ i was lying on the ground with almost severe blood loss :-) . Now I was already afraid of riding through Bangkok, probably needing to stop every 100 m and not getting out of my pedals. Now Benno borrowed me pedals with one-side-click and the other normal, so in cities I can ride normal (FFD - fast feet down) and on longer tracks I can use the clicks. Thank you Benno!
Tomorrow I will try and get my Chinese visum. Could be tricky - I did not buy a flight yet and my hotel adress is a SPA. I will tell you about that tomorrow.
Saludos, FloRider
