This past weekend has been pretty cool, but really slow. I left Berlin Sunday the 28th headed to Dresden. I took the BerlinLinienBus to get down here and it was surprisingly inexpensive for what I got! It was only 9€, and the bus was very modern and nice. It had very comfortable seats, a charging port for each seat, and wifi. The seats reclined as well and I was able to get some sleep! I will definitely be traveling with them more often. I was hungry so I stopped by McDonald's for the first time and was surprised by how small the portion sizes were. For almost 2€, this is definitely not what I was expecting. American portions are so much larger it's amazing!
I got to the hostel and just relaxed for the rest of the day. I got some Chinese food from the train station nearby because everything was closed. It was really good and fairly inexpensive, and the portion size was nice. I went to sleep after unpacking and everything and got an early start to Monday.
29 June 2015
I woke up early, did my normal routine, and got ready for a good start
to the day. I checked with the front desk for attractions and museums that I could visit. They were very helpful and then gave me some fliers for old town. New town is where all the restaurants and hostels are, new things. Old town is all the attractions, museums, cathedrals, etc. After looking at the fliers, it said the entire thing is closed on Mondays, but open on Sundays.
P.S. not very many things are open on sundays...
My phone was still full, so I just sat around and was lazy and cleared my phone of all the photos. I ended up deleting over 1200 photos of duplicates and pictures that I didn't like. That took most of the day, and I still suspect that I need about another 1800 that I must go though before I am done, which I haven't yet because I have been tired. I did have a really good pulled pork sandwich though
30 June 2015
So, Tuesday. 30 June. I did the same thing as yesterday. I went to sleep early and woke up early around 7:30. I headed out to old town and wanted to explore the cathedrals and museums.
There were 14 or 15 of them all close together and I wanted to see them all in one day because I wasn't planning on staying very long in Dresden. I got to old town at about 10:30, after about 30 minutes of walking. It was a killer. It was so hot and it would only get hotter during the week. I walked around for 2 hours in circles just looking for the museums while sweating like a pig. I should've checked the weather! (I seem to have this problem a lot...). I finally found an entrance to something that could have been a museum, and it was the entrance to a cathedral! It was absolutely amazing! I have never seen one this big before and it was truly majestic. Words not pictures could describe how beautiful this cathedral was. I tried to snap a few, but it was absolutely breathtaking! I bought some postcards and a candle to take/send home and donated some extra change to the church. It was about 13:30 and I wanted to go, so I went back to the hostel and just kind of relaxed. The heat was killer and no AC nor fans and
having to walk everywhere was painful. I could've taken the metro but I figured that the exercise and sweating would do me some good! I just relaxed for the rest of the day and tried to wait out the heat, and to start all over again tomorrow.
