The world in a fountainThe world in a fountainThe world in a fountain

it doesn't really show in a still photo but this was quite cool, the water pushed it so that the world turned around, much as it does in real life, but y'know, in a fountain
July 9th: Started the morning wiht a big breakfast; breads, meats, homemade jams and coffee. Eva's whole family sat and breakfasted together which is nice, considering I remember our family breakfasts... well I don't because I was usually still lying in bed, milking that extra 5 minutes of sleep!

Eva took me on a tour of St Wendel and we saw her old school (old school y'all), a giant stone globe spinning on a fountain and had ice coffees.
Andreas arrived and we headed off to Trier fro me to be a tourist. We saw the Porta Nigra (the black door) which is a leftover from when the Romans were in residence (those Romans had a finger in every pie) so it was 2,000 or so years old. We stopped at a store for me to buy some German music and what luck! I found a Faith No More live DVD... I'm pretty sure it's a bootleg since they haven't released any reunion DVDs but it looks pro-shot...not sure why it was being sold in a shop though.

After a McDonalds lunch we saw a few more old sites including two old Roman bath houses (not at all, I
a bit of Triera bit of Triera bit of Trier

specifically, a bit with a fountain
imagine, like the Atami Bath House in Chch), stopped at a bookstore because I'm finishing my books much too quickly, already 3/4 through the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" (very good by the way). The day in Trier culminated with a visit to an ancient Roman amphitheatre which was still in pretty good nick for its 2,000 odd years, clearly the Romans knew a thing or two about building.

After Trier we headed to Luxemborg for a bit of grocery shopping, then back into Germany. Said goodbye to Andreas and sorted out my photos a bit before we sat down to dinner; curry sausages with chips, salad, and breads.

There was a bit more back and forth with photo showing and youtubing of German music. I showed them "Poi e" and tried unsuccessfully to track down Dobbo's "Slice of heaven" on there. Feeling a bit iffy, hopefully a good sleep will sort it out.
