26th June Monday AUSTRALIA Vs ITALY
I slept in this morning and headed straight into town to grab some last minute things like postcards and gifts. I couldn’t find anything that I wanted and was pissed off. It was still a while till the match and people were everywhere. We went to the train station for our free transfer to pick up our actual tickets and waited in line. I was getting so excited!!! Once I got my ticket with my name on it I kissed it, and cheered. I then headed back to camp and got ready super quick. Clackers packed up the tent (thanks man) and we get a lift with Danny (the t-shirt guy) to the train station.
The car ride was an absolute crack up. The car was tiny and it had our huge packs in it, Clackers and Josh were squashed in the back, I was on Zedz' lap in the front squashed in and Danny was driving. We passed so many coppers and most of them just laughed at us. I was waving my flag out the window and screaming Aussie chants at everyone. The guys also joined in and we
even had to stop and ask one copper for directions, and we all had beers in our hands too!!! So after locking mine and Clackers’ packs in storage we head to the main street and it was completely chockers. We stay in the action for a beer then start heading to the stadium, grabbing another beer on the way. Lucky we got there pretty early as the line up to get into the stadium was completely ridiculous. Once we eventually got to the front I was told I couldn’t go through as they needed a lady to search me and there was only one lady! WHAT!!! And of course all the ladies had handbags so that line wasn’t even moving. So I was at the beginning of my line and now squashed and waiting to go through. The women were all screaming at the man not letting us through. I had no bag and hardly any clothes on and told them I didn’t mind getting searched by a man but that didn’t work!!! I was now paranoid I was going to miss the start and the guys were waiting for me too and I felt bad. Eventually they got another

a meter long beer, with 11 beers...moo female and as I was first I went through straight away and we quickly climbed the stairs to the stadium and then we had to climb the stairs inside the stadium to the nose bleed section where our seats were. Any seat in this stadium would have rocked, I was very impressed. We were right in the back and in the corner amongst all the other Aussies. I was so nervous about the match and so proud when we all sung the anthem. The screen was so small, but it didn’t matter as it felt like we were right on top of the pitch; I could see everything. Just before ½ time and still no one had scored. The crowd was fairly quiet and I felt like this was my time to get a chant going. Something I have tried on several occasions at several sporting events (mainly Rugby League back home) but I’ve never pulled it off. This was it. All by myself...
“AUS…TRA…LI…YA…NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH… NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH…AUS…TRA…LI…YA…”
Everyone joined in around us and it was all I could hear; I couldn’t believe it. All the

looks like Zedz has guys around me shook my hand and I was so proud of myself. They couldn’t believe that a little girl like me was able to yell so loud, but when I told them where I was from (a penno girl) I think they may have understood. During ½ time I ran to the toilet, was first in and even got a chant going with the girls!!!
Australia was playing brilliantly and we looked the goods. In extra time it was still nil all and we were worried about going to a shoot out until that moment in Australian soccer history where all our dreams were shattered. I am not even going to repeat it as it's not necessary and I'm sure you all know what I am talking about. We were all so devastated; we were officially out of the 2006 World Cup and were completely in shock. I have never cried from watching a sporting game in my life but the tears flew. We sat there not saying anything for about ½ an hour and I didn’t wanna leave the stadium. I was still a very proud Australian and the boys deserved our admiration. We eventually
made our way down the stairs, had to say bye to Zedz as Clackers and I had to leave.
We got our bags headed to the platform, got the train, and then jumped on the bus that would be taking us away from Germany; the place I met my 4 boys, danced my little Aussie butt off, drank myself silly and watched the best Australian soccer team in history. Germany really was an awesome place; I think this won’t just end up being one of the highlights to my travels, it will end up being one of those memories I will never forget; an absolute highlight to my life...and the boys are to thanks for that aswell, so thanks boys...see you back in London...
And thanks Germany, and good luck to you with your World Cup.
