Heading Up River toward Lindt.
Hello All,

We took advantage of our beautiful sunny Monday, and we explored the Rhine in the other direction: up stream toward the south. Bonn has these great bike trails along the Rhine and we had taken them several times north to the center of town. We decided to take the bikes on one of the ferries one way south and then ride them back, I think it was even my idea. We bought passage from Bad Goddesberg (Near Margies Home) to Lindt for 17,80 € for the both of us and the bikes first thinking the wind would be at our backs when returning. The trip was beautiful on the large ferry and they had no problem putting our bikes on board.

The cruise up was great, but I ended up paying 6.2 € for a Pils and Coke Lite. Beer has never cost more than 1.8 € here but we were enjoying the cruise. As it turned out, I got a bit sunburned sitting up top enjoying the scenery. Linda always seems to have prepared for things like the weather and the like, she usually has sunglasses or a hat to pull out of her backpack when

Attached to this post are some of the pictures we took. After our curise pulled in to our stop, we decided to have our meal for the day at one of the eateries along the river; there were several to choose from and we enjoyed the turkey and schnitzel. There are gelatto bars everywhere.

The ride back was into the wind, long, and if it weren't along a river, I would have sworn it was uphill. But we made it back. Exercise quota for the week.

We are off to Amsterdam tomorrow. We will be staying at the Dikker & Thijs Fenice Hotel, which I think is a funny name considering the legend of Hans Brinker and the finger in the Dike saving Holland. Oh well, it is a 4 star hotel.
