Nymphenburg Palace 1
Nymphenburg Palace, Munich, Germany Day 13 - Tuesday Today I took the day off from the group. They are on their way to Fussen to see the Neuschwanstein (Disney Castle) by way of Dachu (Concentration Camp). I've been there three times, so today I plan on spending the day in Munich with Marlene, Rich and Bill.
We left at 9 am by foot to the tram station to find our way to Nymphenburg Palace, home of mad King Ludwig (his parents). Read more about the Palace at

On our way there, snow began falling. It was absolutely beautiful. I thought of the group in the Alps and thought, the scene of fresh snow will be breathtaking. I felt a bit guilty for missing it. So off we go, by tram and by foot to the Palace. We had a great tour and the artistry of the Palace was remarkable, building after building. We saw portraits, statues, carriages, porcelain, armory and so on. We had coffee and cake at the coffee shop and thought to ourselves, how grand it would be to live here.
The snow was still falling as we worked our way back to the hotel. From there, Bill Nymphenburg Palace 2
Bill, Richard, Marlene and Ann Inside Nymphenburg Palace and Rich decided to find a laundromat. There was no way I was going to spend two hours washing my clothes.
While the guys did their laundry, I took a walk to see what was nearby the hotel. That's something we do not do so much, walk around the hotel to see what is nearby. I walked for 15 minutes and found this fabulous museum, Glyptothek with the most famous sculpture of "Barberini Faun or Drunken Satyr".

It's 6 pm and the group is not back yet. Bill and I take a tram up the road to see Olympic Park. There it was, building after building and in one of the arenas young kids was practicing track and field. This now is the eight Olympic park I've seen: Berlin, Garmisch, Barcelona, Innsbruck, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and now Munich.
Back to the hotel and it's 8 pm and the group is now getting back. Remember, they left at 8:30 am this morning. They look "spent" and boy do they have stories to tell. They were in the middle of a snow storm and most of them had to Munich 23
Barberini Faun or Drunken Satyr is located in the Glyptothek walk up to the castle, as the horse carriages line was very long.
So I look at Angela and Shelley to see if they wanted to look for dinner. One look at Angela and she is "spent". So we all ate at the hotel. I think I wrote about this somewhere. Longstory short here, 30 of us, 1 server and probably 1 cook. As Susan would say "it's all good" and we had a great meal. So what if it took 2 hours to eat.
Time to pack and get ready for Venice via Salzburg. It's past midnight and I've made my goal. Way to go Ann!
LongStory Short,
Ann
