Alright well to start out my trip from Amsterdam to Germany it was another 5am day. I didnt plan for it to be, but at 5am some girl came into my hostel room and said it was her bed and I had to move. The hostel put me there, gave me the key, i even told them i thought all the beds looked taken, yet they still told me that it was fine. Ha. So at 5am the guy cant even find my name on any room, despite the fact that I had already paid. I got moved to some room for the remaining 2 hours I had left in Holland, but it was pretty much worthless. Eventually I made it to the station and left suprisingly sunny Netherlands for cold and cloudy germany.
My first stop in germany was the Rhine River Valley. I took a 5 hour river cruise from Koblenz to Mainz which was quite nice to look at. Every few minutes there would be a new little town along the coast of the river with a castle on a hill. Vinyards were scattered throughout the valley. It was quite picturesque... not that my pictures do it

the street names are even in braile any justice. I met some nice old guys from the Denver area that were traveling around Germany and talked with them for an hour or two. Most of the time I just sat up top reading my book and glancing around the scenery.
Once I ended up on land I took a late night train to Stuttgart where I arrived at the hostel at 2 am because I couldnt find the metro or a taxi for quite some time (5am-2am kind of days arent generally my favorite). The next morning I decided to take my time and spent a nice morning in Stuttgart arriving to the train station to leave for Munich some time around noon.
Munich was very cool. I met a girl when I arrived to my room in the hostel (also from Colorado) who wanted to walk around town. After 6 was happy hour at the WomBar (the hostels bar) so we went and drank a few pitchers meeting these guys from british columbia, two aussies, and one guy from denver/montana. Eventually happy hour(s) ended and we moved to the hostel 2 doors down whose happy hour extended until 9. I had a great fucking
time and met someone from Texas who gave me some Tabacco Snuff. I was curious to try it, but I must say the novelty definitely wore off when I blew my nose the next day..... well we were all having a great time and eventually it came time for Midnight Madness back at WomBar. I was definitely very drunk but it was a great night!!! ((((hahah a funny story: the two guys from BC were trashed to the extent one fell asleep with his sandwich in bed and woke up with crumbs everywhere while the other guy fell asleep sitting up at a desk, half eaten sandwich in front of him, and his shirt off his back but resting on his arms as if he gave up midway.)))) The next morning I could definitely feel all the german beer tho (I must have had at least 8 pints)
So that morning I took the hostels free walking tour around Munich and learned all about the historical buildings, legends, etc. Went to the hofbrauhaus (one of germanys most famous beer houses) for lunch----but the food made me feel quite sick. It could have been the white veal sausages (I try
Lunch
Sausages in water that comes with a pretzel. German food is strange and overwhelming to eat all the regional specialties no matter how I feel about the animal it came from) but I attribute it all to the one liter of Radler I was drinking. Radler is when you combine beer with lemonade and is very popular in europe.... as much as I enjoy it one liter was far too much and I couldnt even finish it (or most of the food) because of the gross feelings I felt whenever Id take another sip. Perhaps I should have ordered the Pork Knuckle (literally a pigs leg cooked with the bone and all to a crunchy texture... i cant say i was rushing to go order it anywhere).
After that I just dicked around Munich until my night train to Milan. Saw the guys from BC and montana again at happy hour and had a few beers with them. The night train wasnt too bad, you wake up a lot in the night, but I still got plenty of sleep. Except I got awoken at 5am again (Im so sick of that happening) but this time by customs/police from the swiss/italian border. Their dog really liked my suitcase..........alot. So they searched it all but of course found nothing. It was probably in trace amounts on some gift Im bringing home.... or perhaps he enjoys good incense. Who knows, but they search anyone who has come from amsterdam... as if a professional drug smuggler doesnt have the money to just rent a car. But whatever, I didnt get back to sleep after that, perhaps too much adrenaline was pumping as they took apart my whole suitcase. Anyway, Im in Milan now and in 2 hours Ill be on the train heading back to Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im so stoked.
