We are starting to notice autumn creeping up on us with the deciduous trees on the other side of the valley from our apartment turning golden yellow.
We shall try and find a trail or two in the forest area that surrounds Bad Peterstal and take a walk in the Black Forest.
After a leisurely breakfast and doing some more washing(it dries so quickly on our sunny terrace)we drove down the hill and parked RR with the idea of walking up the main road to the information centre to see if they had details and maps of local walks in the Black Forest.
Before we started walking we also tried to see if we could log into an internet connection in the town as there was supposed to be a hotspot although we didn't know if it would require a password. There were a couple of connections but they required a password and we didn't have one.So we gave it away and headed off for the walk.
The information centre wasn't a great deal of help with other than local walks which will probably have to do.
There are 3 or 4 bakeries in town and we checked a couple out to
see what they had in Black Forest Cake/Gateau.We ended up with a couple of decent size slices and a pizza stick and went back home up the hill for lunch. This was probably the most filling lunch we have had in a while and really didn't need to eat as much. The Black Forest cake was so filling !!!
We left our walk around the local area until later in the afternoon and this time walked down the hill rather than taking RR.We hope we don't regret it as the hill is pretty steep and quite long and we will be walking back up after a walk around one of the local tracks.
The local walk took us up the hill on the other side of where our apartment is and after a short steep climb the track levelled out a bit until we came across a fountain and small shallow pool in a clearing in the trees. The water that was flowing was cold and obviously coming from deep down.We assumed the pool was there so you could bath your feet in fresh spa water.
The track then headed across the hillside and past the very neat and tidy cemetary. With so little
flat room available in the town the hillside was the best place for the cemetary with all the graves running across the steep hillside.
Surprisingly, shortly after we passed the cemetary the track led us back downhill to the town's main street. We hadn't really had a long walk but with the thought of having to walk up the steep hill back to the apartment we felt we had probably done a good work out.
We made it home without feeling the strain of the hill climb too much and rewarded ourselves with a cold beer and nibbles. For dinner tonight we have chicken cordon bleu and three veges and a cold bottle of white wine.
Not an overly active or interesting day other than we discovered a little more about Bad Peterstal and its claim to fame as a spa town.

The water "pool" is there for healing reasons based on the theories of Mister Kneipp, see the following link of the so called Kneipp-Kur: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sebastian_Kneipp
