Lyon or Strasbourg ?

Hi we'll be staying in Paris for 4 nights before going traveling via train to Lucern/Zurich. I am wondering which is best or other suggestions - going to lucern via Lyon or via Strasbourg?

I believe the journey would be better through Strasbourg but would love to hear from people who've done it.
