Greetings to all from the beautiful south of France, Nice to be exact. We left the Geissbach Hotel bright and early (7:00 a.m.) on Friday. We took a perilous ride (only to Kathy) down the mountain to the train station. Once there, we took a total of 3 trains over a period of 9 hours, stopping in every city in Switzerland, Italy and France before arriving in Nice at 4:30 p.m. For the first time, Kathy had to sit in 2nd Class and she was not too happy.

We will make our base in Nice until Thursday. On Saturday, we headed for the beach where we stayed all day. It was certainly a joy to simply sit and watch the beautiful sea and the people and not have to worry about going anywhere. Unfortunately, a huge and unexpected wave washed over us and our belongings, which included the camera in Robert's shorts. We can't get it to work and may have to get another one so at the time, there will be no more pics

On Sunday, we took a little trip up to St. Paul, a beautiful medieval village that sits high above Nice on a cliff. A huge tourist draw but very quaint with lots of art galleries, little restaurants, and wonderful homes.

The food here has been incredible, as has the wine. Very relaxing so far - when one does 8 countries in 2 1/2 weeks, one needs a rest.

Au Revoir!
Kathy and Robert

I'm so jealous!
I can't believe you guys are still on vacation. Its seems like I've been back in LA forever. I am sorry Kathy had to sit in 2nd class on the train. I can totally understand her pain! :) Enjoy the rest of your trip! Miss you guys.
