Fountains
Sitting in the park in Nice. Ok, tonight I am in VENICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, I need to finish writing about yesterday.
Nice WAS nice! It was hard to find washrooms though. We ate in a sandwhich shop for lunch. I had a baguette with ham and cheese. Totally diggin' the whole sandwhiches on french bread. We finally found a toilette in a department store. I spent .50euro to use it. But the feeling was worth it! Those Europeans are smart charging people to use the washroom.
Then we went and sat in a park near some cool water fountains. For some reason, on our trip so far no fountains seemed to be working. So we chilled out there for a bit and walked back to the pick up. The coach came and we went back to the campsite. We had a good supper, as usual - turkey steak with gravy, corn, and potatoes. We got all dressed up before supper to go to the casinos in Monaco!!! How awesome does that sound? We had a couple of drinks before we left, knowing that they would be expensive at the casino.
The drive there was gorgeous! Monaco is the 2nd smallest country in the world (after
Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous
On the way to the casino in Monaco, stopping to pose for a photo. Vatican City) and soooo rich. You have to have 2 million dollars in your bank account to even think of applying for citizenship there. I guess they have a formula one race there, which had just finished up. So, we got to see that road and the bleachers, as well as the 'hairpin' which is a really tight turn the cars have to make.
We stopped on the way to the casino and got to take some photos of the view. Mecha and the rep brought along champagne for us. That was awesome of them! Karen really had to go to the washroom by then and so she braved the one on the coach. It was funny because while she was in there, Simon pulled ahead with the coach lol. She just thought we were leaving.
The grand casino looked very ritzy inside, but cost 10 euros just to get in so most of us went to the Sun Casino in the Fairmont Hotel. It was just a short walk away. I left my camera on the coach because we had to check them at the casino otherwise. I kinda wish I had taken it with me. It
Romeo Romeo.....
Juliet's Balcony in Verona was fairly quiet inside. I played 5 euro and won 15 right away so I cashed out. Then I lost the 15 right away (darn Kenny Rogers 'The Gambler' game) so I left it at that. Some of the people on our tour were actually playing the table games and a lot of the girls had never played the slots before. Before we left we were told to check out the bathroom at the Grand Casino. You don't have to pay to do that, so I went in. The lobby looks like a palace inside. You go downstairs and the bathroom is just like normal. I was wondering what the big deal was, but strangely enough, the toilet like...spins around and cleans itself after you flush! Weird. Anyways, the coach left at 10:30.
I readlly had wanted to go to the bar once we got back to the campsite but the bus ride made me sooooo tired. I went to the bar and had one drink but could barely operate. I felt like I was half awake. So, I decided to go back to the cabin. I was falling back asleep writing, so I passed out right away.
Awesome Cabins!
Our home during our stay at the Fusina campsite. Today was a travel day. We went through some gorgeous country this morning again. Awesome views of the ocean! I took some video for my dad, because I figured that driving on the edge of the hills like we were with such a drop off to the ocean would make him ill. We had a contest to count all of the tunnels we went through, but somehow we were just off by a couple of numbers. We stopped at a gas station once we got to Italy and had our first taste of real italian pizza. It was good. They have realy thin pizza crust and you get the diavalo- salami and cheese, and it has like..three or four really big pieces of salami and thats about it.
Our next stop was Verona!! I love Romeo and Juliet so it was nice to just say I was in Verona. It was quiet beautiful there. There was a Roman ampitheatre. We went to see Juliet's balcony. There is a statue there too, of Juliet (or Guliette). If you rub her boobs you have good luck in love, but I didn't do it. I bought souveniers.
When I went to
Happy!!
So happy to be in Italy!! leave there weren't many people on my tour within view. So, I seen the british girls Amy and Sarah and joined up with them. They wanted tea so we found a litte shop. Amy and I had gellato. I had mint chocolate. Yum!!! We made our way back to the town square and needed some toilettes. We found some and had to pay .50 again. This time it was a squatter toilet that I got stuck with!! Basically, its a hole in the ground. I was in a hurry too because there was only 15 minutes before the coach was leaving and we had to walk down the street yet. I made it with a couple minutes to spare. I liked the idea of being in Verona, but did not like the idea of being stuck there!
Karen and I made a countdown poster for when Simon could get drunk. It is hot in Itally, too by the way. And LOTS of mosquitos in Venice!
I am in Venice!!!!!!! I have thought about coming here for the last few years, so this is thrilling!! The campsite here is awesome too!!! We have three comfy beds in one room AND lots of outlets AND our own bathroom! It looks like a modern camp trailer. AND the shower has a door that closes!! It's the best so far, for sure.
It was HOT in the supper tent. We had yummy spagetti, meat sauce, and salad. Afterwards, we went to the little supermarket. Karen and Gloria bought some Off to ward off the mosquitos here and I gought water. But, it turned out to be carbonated water- ick!!!! I had read about that. Then we were off to the internet- 3 euro for 1/2 hour. I had to wait for a bit before there was a free computer so I took out some money from that bank machine and called home. I got to talk to mom and dad. The connection wasn't too hot but it worked. After that I still had a little wait for the internet. It was on a bus, called the Internet Bus. You go up a winding staircase to the second level of the bus and there is a wall with a bench to sit and then the other wall has a long desk with computers on it. I talked to a guy from another tour who is from South Africa but now lives in the US. I checked my email and sent some more out.
We went to the bar for a bit. I had a couple of drinks. This is the place where they have the Attitude Adjuster drink- it has like 8 types of alcohol in it or something. I never had one. Karen, Gloria, and I came back to the cabin and visited. It's almost midnight now. Time to go to bed so that I have energy for Venice tomorrow!!!!!
