Castle Chambord • We had a bit of trouble with the internet so we now have found a place we can do a bit of writing to tell you guys what we have done so far. From Etten leur we drove down to Rouen where we stayed two days to see the place of Joan of Arc's martyrdom. We actually saw the place where she was burned in the middle of town in 1431. The timber framed houses dating from the 15th century still occupied. Next stop the Loire valley with all it's beautiful chateaux. To describe every chateaux would be to long, but the amazing thing of all of them is the ages and grandeur. We stayed in a bed and breakfast in a little village called Onzaine. It is very central to the castles that made it easy reachable. We visited a few out of the many that are here. o.a. Chambord, the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci who died there at the age of 69. The massive Chenonceau with arches spanning the river Cher. Nothing much around in Onzaine so we have our meal in Amboise a small town nearby. That is also the town Leonardo da Vinci was

same castle different angle the guest of the French King Francois 1 in a smaller home nearby. At a dinner we were sitting next to two Australians who were so interesting. They save battery hens which are featherless and let them run around in there garden and the recuperate completely with feathers growing back and combs upright. They also rescue kittens back to health. They have seven at the moment. It is such a funny story. The B&B we are staying is an old 160 years old house. Two young women own it they restored it with modern bathrooms. The breakfast table in the morning is interesting with most of the guest being French so not much English at all.
