So today was an interesting day in Montpellier for the sole reason that I got lost...twice. Loren and I boarded the wrong tram and ended up going for a little tour of Montpellier. We now know where the end of the line is. We were nearly late for class (we had left at noon for a 1pm class and what should ahve taken 15 minutes took us 55 minutes because we had to haul ass to school to be on time). My calves were burning by the time we made it up the stairs and into our seats. Luckily, Professor Seigal was rnning late by a minute, so we were fine. After class, Katie and I decided to take our books to the Place de Comdie for lunch, studying and people watching. After a lunch of steak frites and coca cola light, we decided to try to find the MANGO store. We knew it was around there somewhere because we saw girls carrying bags that said MANGO on it. We found it, and they had very cute things, by the way, which go on sale tomorrow, so I will be headed back there, but anyways, we found the store, looked,

Funny! It's a dedication to Joakim Noah!!! No not really, but maybe!
and then figured we could keep walking a little bit and make our way back tot he main drag. SO we are walking, and we're walking, and walking some more, and all of a sudden, we are in unfamiliar territory. My new motto for Europe: If you are where the locals live, you are in the wrong place. Eventually, and I mean eventually, we found a tram station and got on. We needed a blue tram but the only ones pulling in were red, so thats how we knew we were really far out. We took it to Gare Montpellier St Roch and then hopped on a blue tram and went to our hotel. It was quite a walk. The upside is that we probably burned off our frites. 😊

On a lighter note, some observations made while people watching:
1) Males wear tight jeans that are fitted around the ankle. No flare.
2) Girls wear tight jeans (cigarette pants I suppose).
3) The mullet is running rampant.
4) There were a few guys with a mohawk-mullet mix on their head and it has now been coined "the mullawk".
5) Everyone has a dog and allows it to pee and poo wherever the dog so desires.
6) Capris are big here too, so I felt like I fit in because I was wearing a pair!
7) Black is the new black.
8) Sirens are very cool here and although it sucks to hear an ambulance or a cop car becasue there is an emergency, the French sirens sound wonderful and I do enjoy their whir....
9) I saw a few "I love NY" shirts here, as well as a few Yankees hats and t-shirts.
10) There is a very North African influence here in the many shops along the alleys.
11) There were no rude French people today. Unlike yesterday.
12) Graffitti is big here...on the walls, on people's hats (whcih are worn sideways by the way), and on the jeans.
13) The people are lanky and thin here. I guess that's why they can get away the pants mentioned in #1-2 of this list.

Anways, I hope everyone back home has a fantastic Fourth of July! We will be celebrating by going to a wine, cheese, and bread tasting event with everyone in our class, so I will update everyone on that later on. I love you
